After a long wait, Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley's 'Chaos Walking’ will finally hit theaters in March.
It's been a long time coming, but 'Chaos Walking' is finally here (almost).
Based on Patrick Ness’ book 'Chaos Walking: The Knife of Never Letting Go,' the film will introduce us to a not so distant world where men can see and hear each other's thoughts.
The sci-fi adventure film starring Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley was originally set to release in 2019 but got pushed back for two more years.
Here is everything we know so far.
Listed release date as of this writing: 5 March 2021
After three years since completion, Tom Holland's 'Chaos Walking' is now set to release in theaters on 5 March 2021.
The film has already suffered numerous delays since pre-production. 'Chaos Walking' was first announced in 2011 with the first script draft written by Charlie Kaufman. Kaufman subsequently left, and the script underwent several revisions from Jamie Linden, Lindsey Beer, Gary Spinelli, John Lee Hancock, Christopher Ford, and Ness himself.
The film finally entered production after Doug Liman joined as a director in 2016, and in 2017 filming finally wrapped up.
The film is initially set to release on March 1, 2019, but was removed from the schedule again to accommodate reshoots after poor test screenings.
After all the hurdles, 'Chaos Walking' is finally coming to theaters on 5 March 2021. (No more delays, we truly hope.)
Tom Holland is taking the lead role as Todd Hewitt, a young boy who lives on a planet where all women were thought to have died.
Joining him is Daisy Ridley as Viola Eade, a woman who crash lands into the New World and could potentially unlock its secrets.
Mads Mikkelsen is starring as the cruel mayor David Prentiss, while Nick Jonas will portray his son, David "Davy" Prentiss.
Demián Bichir and Kurt Sutter are playing Todd's adoptive father, Ben Moore and Cillian Boyd, respectively.
Also joining the cast is Cynthia Erivo as Hildy Black. She will become an essential ally to Todd and Viola.
Other cast members include David Oyelowo as Aaron, Óscar Jaenada as Wilf, and Marc Primeau as Whaler, among others.
'Chaos Walking' is set in a dystopian world where all women were thought to have perished, while men are afflicted by a 'noise,' a force that puts their thoughts on display.
One day, Viola crash lands on the planet and was found by Todd. Viola's arrival makes Todd question everything he knew about the planet.
He vows to protect Viola from the dangers that lurk in the dangerous landscape. Soon, the two find themselves on the run. While in the process of keeping Viola safe, Todd finds his inner power and unlocks the dark secrets of the planet.
