New Netflix Film Watched More Than 21 Million Times In Its First Three Days

Zack Snyder's film dominates Netflix with 21 million views globally.

Netflix's top spot this week belongs to Zack Snyder's "Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver," which has garnered an impressive 21 million views globally, according to Netflix's site Tudum.

Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, the sequel has not faltered in attracting viewership. The space opera, inspired by Star Wars, revolves around Kora, a former Imperium soldier residing on a distant moon threatened by a tyrannical force from which she is hiding.

Within its first week of release, "Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver" accumulated 44.2 million viewing hours, translating to over 20 million views within just three days since its release on April 19. Netflix's metrics often assume that each hour of viewing accounts for two viewers, potentially suggesting that around 43 million individuals have watched the film. Following closely behind in second place is the animated film "Woody Woodpecker Goes to Camp," boasting 18.8 million views. Other titles on the streaming chart include crime documentary "What Jennifer Did," the thriller "Anna" starring Sasha Luss, Cillian Murphy, and Luke Evans, as well as "Hotel Transylvania" and "Damsel," featuring Millie Bobby Brown's dragon film.

Despite its divisive reception, Zack Snyder remains a polarizing figure in the film industry, known for films like "300," "Sucker Punch," and "Justice League."

In an interview with Metro UK, Snyder said "The reactions to my movies tend to really be these big… overreactions

"We were talking about even just [with] Rebel Moon – Part One. I’m like, it’s not that controversial of a movie,"

"A lot of people have this crazy reaction to it. And I’m just like, 'I don’t get it! I don’t get that reaction.' So yeah, I just think that in the zeitgeist, I’ve just found this weirdo spot, you know, and it is what it is. I’m not mad about it, but it just is what it is."

Nevertheless, Snyder's dedicated fanbase eagerly anticipates the release of the director's cut versions. Additionally, Snyder hints at the potential for more entries in the "Rebel Moon" franchise, including a third installment and beyond.

"From a story standpoint, there’s plenty more to do."

"We were talking about if you made another Rebel Moon movie, would the audience be like, “Well, don’t we get two? Because I think we always – it seems like we always should get two of these movies? Whenever you make a movie it should be two, because, otherwise, what, we’re gonna make one? You’re going back to one? That’s weird.” So, these are the kinds of things we’re talking about!"

"Rebel Moon – Part One" and "Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver" are both currently available for streaming on Netflix.
