Since its release, 'Avengers: Endgame' has been dominating the box office and is setting records after records. But, recently, you will be surprised to know that one Indie movie, titled 'The Farewell' has managed to break the record of 'Endgame' and it has also been creating a lot of buzzes. Marvel's blockbuster epic did hold the US box office record for best per-screen-average in 2019, with an average of $76,601 each theater, across 4,662 locations on its opening weekend, as reported by Variety.

After that, came 'The Farewell' that starred Awkafina. Last weekend, the movie opened in four locations, two being New York and two being in Los Angeles and averaged on an astounding $87,833. The movie is written and directed by Lulu Wang and has a solid 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 92 reviews. It has also been said that this is a movie you should watch out for, for the next years Oscar.
The plot of the movie follows the story of a Chinese-American woman named Billi who gets to know that her grandmother in China is dying from terminal lung cancer. She travels all the way to China to visit her grandma but struggles to cope with her family keeping the diagnosis a secret from the matriarch.

The movie, based on 'actual lie', also stars Tzi Ma, Diana Lin, and Shuzhen Zhao. Even though 'Endgame' might have lost its previous record, it did take a record $1.2 billion worldwide on its debut. Marvel studio is also setting its sight on another prize, where the movie needs just over $7 million to overtake Avatar and become the biggest movie of all-time. The current total of the movie stands at $2.78 billion.
