Legally Blonde has been among Reese Witherspoon's most popular movies. It was the movie that sent her career to the moon. Now, 16 years later the Legally Blonde franchise is getting a third film. Here's everything we know so far about it.
'Legally Blonde 3' is set to arrive in theaters on Valentine's Day (14th February) 2020. The first film premiered in 2001 and the second one in 2003.
Reese Witherspoon will be back as our favorite blonde Harvard Grad Elle. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight Witherspoon said:
Oh, it's gonna be so fun! I got to go to a meeting the other day where we talked about all the new plot points and all the characters and some returning characters and some new characters. I mean, I got so excited just in the meeting. I was like, 'This is gonna be good'.
Whether Selma Blair and Jennifer Coolidhe will be reprising their roles is unclear.
Jessica Cauffiel has been confirmed to return as Margot and Luke Wilson's return is a possibility but not yet confirmed.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight Wilson spoke about his interest in returning for the third film.
I'd definitely be up for it... All I've heard is the same thing everyone else has heard, it's that they might be doing a Legally Blonde 3. But I can't imagine anything that would be more fun. Reese played such a great character. I'd love to do a Legally Blonde 3.
The plot is being kept under wraps at the moment but Matthew Davis, who played Warner Huntington III in Legally Blonde, made a pretty good suggestion:
I would love to see something where perhaps Warner is married to a politician, to a woman who's running for office, and he's sort of like a kept man.
The film currently doesn't have a director after the last two directors Robert Luketic and Charles Herman-Wurmfeld dropped out. At the moment the film is in search of a director.
Producers Marc Platt and Adam Siegel are confirmed as producers along with Reese Witherspoon herself.
Kirsten 'Kiwi' Smith, Amanda Brown and Karen McCullah are listed as writers.
