Zoe Saldana is the only actress to become a part of three out of five movies that entered the two billion dollar market.
Most of the actresses dream about winning the Oscar, for some others, it is an Emmy or a Tony. But Zoe Saldana has had a different dream and goal to achieve. Now that there is a very real chance that 'Avengers: Endgame' can surpass the box office collection of 'Avatar', that also starred Saldana and is the highest grossing Hollywood movie as of now. The other movie that surpassed $2 billion that stars Saldana is Avengers: Infinity War. While speaking to Variety, she said, "If it does, I’m so much of a geek that I would want to see if I can get into ‘The Guinness Book of World Records. Because if I broke a record, that would be my shot.”
With $2.2 billion in the bag after 2 weeks it seems like Saldana as all set to break her own record but it's not the only thing she has been breaking. Saldana also broke her very own 'phone free Friday' rule because a number of people and far-flung co-stars were blowing up her phone when the movie profits soared. She added, "We were sending each other messages, but I think I was sending more messages to my reps. I’m such a mom that I [always] put my phone down on Friday and I am just changing diapers and things like that."
She added, "But it was really beautiful to be reminded that I was a part of something just that big — again.” And although one might imagine the sound of a mic drop at this moment, Saldana took a more humble approach. “I feel like I had the same reaction this past weekend that I did years ago for ‘Avatar,’ where it over-exceeded all my expectations. And I’m just grateful.” She was also thankful for Jhpiego’s visionary award along with her husband, artist Marco Perego, which recognized their philanthropic efforts that are aimed at the children living in the U.S. and abroad.
She added, "How do I feel to be honored? Like I haven’t done enough actually. So it was hard for me to accept this recognition because I feel like my husband and I are just getting started, and when it comes to using our voices to amplify causes, we have a long way to go. But we’re certainly very inspired by organizations like Jhpiego. I became motherless five years ago and only lately am I finally tapping into the great importance of having good coverage — or access to health care."
She added, "I like how much Jhpiego amplifies the importance of medical care for families — for women and children — especially throughout pregnancy. That is not something that many mothers have access to around the world, but this is an organization that has worked in 155 countries. Most of them are developing countries that need attention and care.” A sequel of 'Avatar' is all set to hit the big screen next year, and going by the looks of it, Saldana might have one more movie under her belt that will become a part of the $2 billion club.
Other movies that earned $2 billion in the box office are 'Titanic' and 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'. Saldana was also one of the many 'Avengers' stars who took it to social media to share some behind-the-scenes shots taken during the filming of the latest film. She shared a picture of the all-female superhero lunch where she is joined by Evangeline Lilly, Elizabeth Olsen, Brie Larson, Danai Gurira, Karen Gillan, Letitia Wright, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Pom Klementieff. Last week, one of her co-stars, Josh Brolin, who played the role of the Mad Titan in the 'Avengers' saga shared a heartwarming clip showing a bunch of cast members signing happy birthday for him as he touched his 50th.
Taking it to Instagram, he captioned the picture, writing, "Was never able to post this before, for obvious reasons. But behind all the hate, all the misunderstandings, all the bruises, bumps, and ashes, there was this on my 50th birthday. So deep, deep down, even from these guys and gals, everyone has a little purple love in them."
