Netflix has announced a whole range of new actors joining season 3. We'll get to see 15 new faces as part of the cast.
Penn Badgley is coming back as the creepy protagonist Joe Goldberg in the upcoming season of the Netflix thriller, You. The much-awaited season 3 of You will be out sometime this year, with filming starting in February, reports Digital Spy.
Here's all you need to know.
Amid pandemic restrictions, the production of many shows have been delayed, and while there is no official return date as of now, Netflix has confirmed that You season 3 will arrive at some point in 2021. It's possible the show might release by the end of the year. But for those of you who have read the books, the third book in the series, You Love Me, will hit shelves on April 6, 2021. As for the show, what can the viewers expect? Co-creator and executive producer Sera Gamble told Cosmopolitan UK. "I will say that we have an idea for season three that is SO exciting that people talk about it in the [writer's] room every day."
Here's a quick refresher for fans who watched season 2 of the show. Joe's new love interest Love Quinn turned out to be (spoiler alert!) just as murderous and creepy as him! She ended up killing Joe's ex Candace and his neighbour Delilah (Carmela Zumbado) to save her relationship. In the finale, Joe shacked up with his murderous girlfriend and their literal "Love" child. But we do see hints of the old Joe... will he be back as the stalking murderous creep that he has always been? We see Joe watching his new neighbour through the fence. Has he found a new "You" to obsess over? "I will figure out a way, a way to get to you," Joe narrates by the end. "See you soon, neighbour."
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, author Caroline Kepnes teased what lies in store in her next book. This could influence the show in some way or the other, right? "Joe is really proud of himself because a lot of people in his position descend into darkness after having been through what he's gone through in book two and then in the beginning of book three," she said. "And he decides that he's going to be a better person and he's very proud of himself for that. Having dealt with Love's family and dating someone with this close relationship with their twin brother, he's very focused on the idea that he should be the one with the family. But yeah, the main thrust of it is that he’s very proud of his strength."
Netflix has announced a whole range of new actors joining season 3. We'll get to see 15 new faces as part of the cast. According to The Tab, Michaela McManus, Shannon Chan-Kent, Ben Mehl, Christopher O’Shea, Christopher Sean, Bryan Safi, Mackenzie Astin, Ayelet Zurer, and Jack Fisher will all appear as recurring guest stars. Dylan Arnold and Tati Gabrielle will be regulars on the show. Theo, played by Dylan Arnold, is "a college student with a strained and complicated relationship with his stepfather. Theo is wise and perceptive, but vulnerable and troubled, with a propensity to get tangled up in his loved ones' problems and to drown his own in controlled substances and dangerous behaviour." Marianne will be played by Tati Gabriell who is a fan-favourite from Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Season three will also see more flashbacks to a younger Joe, played by Jack Fisher.
