Warner Brothers revealed global release date schedules for Wonder Woman 1984, with the UK among the first countries to see the anticipated sequel.
After a long wait and numerous delays, Warner Brothers has finally revealed the global release date for Wonder Woman 1984.
The highly-anticipated superhero sequel starring Gal Gadot is set to release on Wednesday, December 16 onwards, debuting simultaneously in cinemas and on HBO Max.
The UK will be among the very first countries to see the film, together with Belgium, Bulgaria, Egypt, Estonia, France, Greece, Holland, Iceland, Indonesia, Portugal, South Africa, and Switzerland.
The film will hit the US theaters on December 25, just as planned. However, in international countries where HBO Max is not available, Warner Bros. opted to release the film earlier to avoid piracy problems.
Speaking of US release, it remains unclear how many cinemas will be open on Christmas day for Wonder Woman 1984's premiere.
Last week, 646 movie theaters in the U.S. closed down due to an alarming surge in COVID-19 cases, according to Comscore as reported by THR.
Meanwhile, theaters in France are permitted to reopen on December 15, a day before Wonder Woman 1984's scheduled release.
Gal Gadot took to Instagram to talk about the sequel's release.
"It wasn’t an easy decision, and we never thought we’d have to hold onto the release for such a long time, but COVID rocked all of our worlds," the actress wrote alongside a photo of her in Wonder Woman costume.
She added: "Wonder Woman 1984 is a special one for me, and I can only hope it’ll be as special to you too. We’ve put our hearts and souls into it."
