What To Watch Today: July 16th, 2021

Here are five titles that you absolutely must watch today!

Happy Friday, folks! The weekend is upon us, and some of you may be eager to put on a pair of your lazy pants and binge something nice. The difficult decision is, however, deciding on what to watch. Life can be tough, but we are going to try to make your life a little bit easier by creating a list of five movies, shows, or documentaries that you absolutely should watch today. Let's get right into it.

Fear Street Part Three: 1666

The first title you should absolutely watch today is the third part of the Fear Street trilogy. If you have yet to even watch the first two, then I recommend you spend some time on that right now. The film continues the story from the first two but goes back in time to 1666 to uncover the origins of the curse.

It follows a small colonial town dealing with a witch hunt, which has consequences for centuries to come.

The film arrived on Netflix today and managed a solid 90% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Love Island (Season 7)

I may get a huge sigh from readers for this one. Why the hell should I watch 'Love Island'? Because it's entertaining and funny, that's why. The seventh season is now releasing episodes daily on Hulu, and can I get Hoyeah!!

It's been a year since we got new episodes of the show, and it's a great way to get your mind off of whatever problems are in the world......or it may make you hate the world even more. Regardless, you should definitely watch it.

Escape Room: Tournament of Champions (2021)

The sequel to Escape Room is finally in theaters. I know, I know! Do I really have to take off my lazy pants and go to a cinema? I'm afraid so. Is it going to be worth it? Well, that depends. The reviews are quite mixed on this one. It currently has a critic rating of 41% based on 39 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. However, the audience score stands at 87%. There is clearly a divide between the critics and the audience. It's basically up to you if you like it.

The film follows six people who find themselves in another series of escape rooms and their quest to survive.

American Horror Stories (2021)

FX's American Horror Stories is a spin-off of the ever-popular American Horror Story franchise. However, instead of one story stringed together into a series, this one is an anthology of stand-alone episodes delving into horror myths, legends, and lore. With only two episodes under its scary belt, the series is already turning heads in fear with a 7.2/10 rating on IMDB. The first two episodes follow the story of the Rubber (Wo)man.

If you're into good old-fashioned horror, then this is a must-watch for you and.....not so much with the kids though. Lol!

Gunpowder Milkshake (2021)

This one is a no-brainer. I was questioning whether or not to add this to the list at all. Anyone with Netflix, the internet, and functioning senses will know about this one. Seeing Karen Gillan kick a$$ is a pastime of mine, ever since Jumanji. It's lovely to see! In her new film Gunpowder Milkshake, we get to see her....well, kick some henchman a$$. Karen Gillan's character reunites with her assassin mother to protect an 8-year-old girl and take down a ruthless crime syndicate and its army of henchmen.

The critics were quite mixed on this one, giving it a 68% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The consensus reads:

Though it runs dangerously close to being a pure sugar rush with no substance, Gunpowder Milkshake is a brutal blast that will absorb audiences into its neon-infused universe.

If you're into the heavy sounds of artillery and bada$$ female assassins, then this is a must-watch!
