Venom 2 is officially happening and here is everything we know so far about it!

It has been confirmed that Venom will be returning for a sequel but it's really not that surprising given the massive success of the first film. In its box office run the movie grossed a stellar $800 million. The movie is made by Sony Pictures and the sequel is said to be directed by Andy Serkis.

The first film did not feature any cameos from Sony and Disney's darling Spider-Man. But there is talk going around that Spider-Man will feature in Venom 2. Well, let's explore. Here's everything we know so far about Venom 2.

So, there isn't an official release date for Venom 2 but Sony has given us a little hint. It was reported by Variety that "an untitled Sony-Marvel project will hit theaters on July 10, 2020, with an untitled Sony-Marvel sequel following on Oct. 2.”

So considering that it's a Sony Marvel sequel we can safely assume that it is Venom 2. So we can expect Venom 2 on October 2nd, 2020 and the Sony Marvel project on July 10th, 2020 is expected to be Jared Leto's Morbius.

What Is The Plot Of Venom 2?

The ending of the first film teased us a bit about what we can expect from Venom 2. It showed us that Carnage will most likely be the main villain. It was then reported by Deadline on October 15th, 2019 that a new villain by the name of Shriek will be introduced. She is a mutant and according to the Marvel crossover comic Maximum Carnage she breaks out of jail with Cletus Kasady and goes on a killing spree with him. It is being reported that Naomie Harris is currently in talks with Sony to play the role of the baddie Shriek.

Who Is In The Cast Of Venom 2?

The cast of Venom 2 will most definitely include Tom Hardy who did an amazing job in the first film. Also we can expect Woody Harrelson to star as long time villain of Venom, Carnage. Naomie Harris, as mentioned before, is reportedly in talks with Sony to play the villain, Shriek. Michelle Williams is expected to return as Eddie's ex-fiance Anne Weying. There have also been some rumors that Tom Holland will be featuring in the film as Spider-Man but as of now it seems very unlikely.
