Netflix finally drops the official trailer for the long-awaited Filipino animated horror/crime series, 'Trese.'
'Trese' follows a young female detective who investigates supernatural crimes committed by Philippine folklore monsters in the city of Manila.
The animated series is based on a black and white comic created by writer Budjette Tan and artist Kajo Baldisimo.
'Trese' is making history as the first Filipino comic to ever receive a Netflix adaptation. To even bring more pride to the feat, the anime has cast international celebrities with Filipino roots, such as Pretty Little Liars' Shay Mitchell and Pussy Cat Dolls lead Nicole Scherzinger to voice the English dubs of the anime.
The anime will preserve some Filipino words and phrases such as 'tabi-tabi po' even in the English dub version.

The anime will arrive on Netflix on Friday, June 11th, 2021.
The series was officially announced in November 2018 during Netflix’s ‘See What’s Next Asia’ event in Singapore. We saw the first look of the series in October 2020. In May 2021, Netflix finally dropped the trailer for 'Trese,' along with a confirmation of the anime's June 11 premiere date.
'Trese' is based on a graphic novel of the same name by Budjette Tan and Kajo Baldisimo. It is set in Manila, the capital city of the Philippines, where folklore monsters live amongst humans.
The series centers around Alexandra Trese, an unusual detective who specializes in investigating crimes perpetrated by supernatural beings. She is accompanied by two magical creatures herself, the Kambal, which translates to twins in the Filipino language. 'Trese' must face the supernatural crime syndicate that's hellbent on destroying Manila.
The Netflix anime series is star-studded with A-list Filipino actors on board to lend their voice to the characters.
Both Filipino and English dubbed versions will be available for the anime. Alexandra Trese is voiced by Liza Soberano in the Filipino version, while Shay Mitchell voiced the character in the English version.
