There is a new addition in the cast team and according to the show's showrunner, the story is going to become intense and very interesting for fans who have followed the show since the beginning.
The day just cannot get any better as FOX announced that 'The Resident' Season 3 has got a greenlight and will be making its way to fans' screen this year! Fans have been anticipating for the release date for quite some time now, and their wait is finally over as the news was announced on the network's official Twitter page stating that the day is not that far when fans will know the fate of their lead characters. Here is everything we know so far about the upcoming season.
You must be happy to know that season 3 of 'The Resident' is due on Tuesday, September 24, 2019. Even though the former seasons received mix reviews from all around the world, The Resident got greenlit for the third installment. It is so because, no matter what, the number of viewers matter a lot in deciding whether or not this show deserves renewal.
Fans desperately wanted to know about Jessie and Kylie's fate as season two left fans with a huge cliffhanger as either of them was shown on the verge of dying. In an interview with Hollywood Life, co-creator Amy Holden Jones spilled some beans about what the third season is going to be all about. When asked whether fans will find out at the beginning of season 3 about Jessie and Kylie, she said, "Yes, You will find that out in the very first episode. You’ll find out whose room Conrad’s working in and what the ultimate outcome is."
Whatever happens with either of them, it is going to leave a big impact on Nic. Amy said, "This has a big impact on Nic going forward no matter what happens because let’s imagine Kyle dies. Nic is the one who brought him back and said it’s a low-risk surgery. She said, ‘I’ll see you on the other side.’ She just got the father back that she really wanted in I think one of the most emotional moments of the episode. Should he survive but be in jeopardy, the fight to save him still would remain. Should Jessie pass then it’s the two of them left together dealing with that. There are a lot of possible iterations. What happens actually has something to do with the plans for the season. There’s a lot of possible conclusions for this and they’re all good."
Michael Thorn, Fox Entertainment president issued a statement on The Resident's renewal at the time, praising the creators.
"Amy Holden Jones, Todd Harthan, and the team behind The Resident continue to showcase their brilliant storytelling, revealing both the triumphs and tragedy within the medical world," he said. "Matt Czuchry, Emily VanCamp, and Bruce Greenwood, along with the stellar cast, have developed rich and compelling characters through their heartfelt performances," Thorn added.
Here's how Fox describes the third installment:
"When THE RESIDENT returns Tuesday, Sept. 24(8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX, Red Rock Mountain Medical has taken control of the hospital. The doctors are faced with their hardest fight yet against the corrupting influence of money in health care. As each new case enters the hospital, this justice league of courageous young physicians will put their futures and careers on the line to stop “profit over patients.”
Reportedly, a new doctor is joining the Chastain Memorial Park Hospital in 'The Resident' for the third season this September. The role will be played by none other than Morris Chestnut. He will be playing the role of the Matt Czuchry-led Fox medical drama as Dr. Barrett Cain, “an intimidating neurosurgeon hired by Red Rock Medical to turn around Chastain’s finances.” As Fox describes him, Cain believes himself to be a doctor who can cure crippling diseases. He is charming depending on his mood, but ruthless and shallow when it comes to his greed for money and power. He is everything but a doctor who can go to any extent to take revenge from all those who oppose him, because of which, all the genuine and good doctors will be in jeopardy. He will be joined by Czuchry, the series stars Emily VanCamp, Bruce Greenwood, Manish Dayal, Shaunette Renee Wilson, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Jane Leeves and Glenn Morshower.
