The CW's 'Gotham Knights': Everything We Know So Far

The characters of the new show are based on those created for DC by Bob Kane and Bill Finger.

Batman and DC fans have a lot to look forward to in the coming days. Even as the Batwoman series is coming back for a third season and the new Batman movie is set to release next year, there's already more content being planned.

The CW has announced that the writers of the Batwoman series are coming together for another spin-off series for the television network. The new project is titled Gotham Knights and is being led by three writers Natalie Abrams, James Stoteraux, and Chad Fiveash, as confirmed by Variety. Even though they are the same team that led the development of Batwoman, this will not be a spin-off of that series nor does it have an affiliation with the video game of the same name.

What Is The Plot Of Gotham Knights?

The characters of the new show are based on those created for DC by Bob Kane and Bill Finger. In the show, we will see the events unfold after Bruce Wayne’s murder. His adopted son has a rebellious streak and ends up forging an unlikely alliance with the children of Batman’s enemies when they are all framed for killing the Caped Crusader. They are the city’s most wanted criminals who must now fight to clear their names. As per the synopsis of the show: "But in a Gotham with no Dark Knight to protect it, the city descends into the most dangerous it’s ever been. However, hope comes from the most unexpected of places as this team of mismatched fugitives will become its next generation of saviors known as the Gotham Knights." This is where the show gets its name from.

Who Is Cast In The Gotham Knights?

There has not been any indication as to who will be cast in the new series yet. It is also unclear which adopted son of Wayne will be in the lead. As per Collider, there are multiple adopted sons including Dick Grayson, Tim Drake, even former Robin Jason Todd, who in the comics takes up the mantle of Red Hood after coming back from the dead. There is no mention of any specific Bat-family members either.

But it is confirmed that Stoteraux and Fiveash are executive producers on the show, with Abrams co-executive producing. Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and David Madden of Berlanti Productions will also be executive producers, they are the team behind the Arrowverse. Warner Bros. Television is the studio. The team has been a part of other successful TV shows including, Gotham, Krypton, and The Vampire Diaries, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Stargirl, and Superman and Lois.

When Will Gotham Knights Be Released?

Since the project has just been greenlit, information relating to the release date is still unclear.
