Matt Damon plays as an Oklahoma oil rig worker who must do his best to exonerate his daughter from wrongful imprisonment.

Academy-winner Director Tom McCarthy and highly acclaimed actor Matt Damon are reuniting in an upcoming crime drama film about a father trying to exonerate his daughter from a crime she didn't commit. 

Stillwater is set to hit the theaters in November and features scenes shot from Oklahoma and France.

What Is The Plot Of Stillwater?

Stillwater follows the story of Bill Baker (Damon), an oil rig worker from Oklahoma who travels to Marseille to visit his estranged daughter, who has been in prison for a murder she claims she didn't commit.

Believing she's innocent, Baker makes it his mission to free his daughter. Faced with cultural differences, language barriers, and a complicated legal system, Baker must push himself to the limit to make sure his daughter gets exonerated.

Along the way, he meets a local woman and her daughter. They develop a friendship, and Damon finds himself on a journey to discovery as he gets a larger sense of belonging in the world.

When Is The Release Date Of Stillwater? 

The film is set to release on 6 November 2020. The film is already in post-production.

Who Is In The Cast Of Stillwater? 

Multi-awarded actor Matt Damon stars as Bill Baker, the strong-willed father who will do everything to set his daughter free.

Abigail Breslin stars as Allison Baker, Damon's daughter, who gets imprisoned in France. Breslin is previously known for her adorable role in the 2006 road comedy-drama Little Miss Sunshine.

Other cast members include French actress Camille Cottin as Virginie, Deanna Dunagan as Sharon, and Robert Peters as Pastor, among others.

Director Tom McCarthy is also co-writing the film together with Thomas Bidegain and Noé Debré. McCarthy previously worked alongside Damon in 2005 American geopolitical thriller film, Syriana.

Stillwater is produced by Participant Media, Anonymous Content, Liza Chasin, Jonathan King, Tom McCarthy, and the late Steve Golin.

Participant Media is excited to reunite with Tom McCarthy for Stillwater. They previously worked together in the 2015 American biographical drama film Spotlight, which went on to win the coveted  Academy Award for Best Picture.

"The opportunity to reunite with Tom after Spotlight and to partner with our friend and colleague Jonathan King for the first time in his new role makes Stillwater a very special film for everyone at Participant," said Participant CEO David Linde via Variety.

"This is a wonderful script, centered on universal themes of connection and the search for truth, and we couldn't be more excited to bring it to audiences around the world," Linde added.

Is There An Official Trailer For Stillwater? 

As of this writing, there's still no official trailer dropped for Stillwater yet.

We're expecting the trailer to drop a few months from now before the film finally releases in November.
