LeBron James is teaming up with the Looney Tunes squad in this long-awaited sequel.
We've waited so long for this.
After 25 years, a Space Jam sequel is finally happening!
Officially titled 'Space Jam: A New Legacy,' the sequel will see NBA star LeBron James and the rest of the Looney Tunes characters in another epic basketball game.
Here's everything we know about 'Space Jam: A New Legacy.'
'Space Jam: A New Legacy' will hit theaters on July 16, 2021. But will this be the final release date? We can't say for sure.
The Coronavirus pandemic delayed the current season, which means that the 2020-2021 NBA season will end well after June or August. The season delay may also push the film’s release to the “off-season” in the fall.
LeBron James will be stepping into the lead role, which originally belonged to Michael Jordan.
Sonequa Martin-Green (Star Trek Discovery) is also joining the cast members. She will reportedly play the role of Savannah James, LeBron's wife.
You will be excited to know that the Looney Tunes are returning! Unfortunately, we are not sure if Mr. Swackhammer will return alongside a new team of Monstars or if the sequel will introduce new villains.
We know for sure that Bugs Bunny will be coming back based on the promo picture released in 2018.
Lola Bunny is also coming back, along with other Looney Tunes characters.
Don Cheadle (Avengers) will also be appearing in the sequel as Al-G Rhythm, the evil computer algorithm.
Ceyair J. Wright will be portraying Bronny James, LeBron's son, who dreams of becoming a game developer.
Thanks to NBA insider Shams Charania, we know which real basketball players are joining the sequel.
We'll get to see NBA stars Damian Lillard, Klay Thompson, and James’ Lakers teammate Anthony Davis in action for the 'Space Jam: A New Legacy'.
Some WNBA players, including Chiney Ogwumike, will also be playing some roles for the sequel.

Meanwhile, we still don't have news if any of the professional basketball players who appeared in the first film will be returning. The first film featured NBA stars Larry Bird, Patrick Ewing, Muggsy Bogues, Shawn Bradley, and Larry Johnson.
There is also no news about Wayne Knight and Bill Murray's return as of this writing.
'Space Jam: A New Legacy' sounds just as fun as the original film.
The long-awaited sequel will see LeBron James teaming up with Bugs Bunny and the rest of the Looney Tunes.
LeBron and his young son Dom, who dreams of being a video game developer, gets trapped in a digital space by a rogue AI.
The only way for them to get home safe is to defeat the AI’s digitized champions on the court.
LeBron must lead Bugs, Lola Bunny, and the whole gang of notoriously undisciplined Looney Tunes to victory against the AI's powered-up roster of basketball stars.
There is no official trailer yet as of this writing, but we have a couple of sneak peeks available.
