Robert Downey will be bowing out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Avengers Endgame being the last time we see him in his red suit.
Avengers: Endgame seems to be the last time that we are getting to see the original Avengers cast all together on screen. Chris Evans alone was already a big hit for the team, now Robert Downey Jr. is making his retirement from the Marvel Cinematic Universe official.
Robert Downey Jr.'s retirement has been up in the air for sometime now so it hasn't come as a surprise. Sources close to Trinikid have stated that his contract with Marvel will end after Avengers: Endgame and it will not be renewed.
On top of this, there was the recent news of Gwyneth Paltrow leaving the franchise. In an interview with Variety she made her leave official.
"I mean, I’m a bit old to be in a suit and all that at this point. I feel very lucky that I did it, because I actually got talked into it. I was friend with [Iron Man director] Jon Favreau. It was such a wonderful experience making the first Iron Man and then to watch how important it has become to fans.”
“I feel honored to be a part of something that people are so passionate about. Of course, if they said, ‘Can you come back for a day?,’ I will always be there if they need me"
All of this made Robert Downey Jr.'s exit all but certain. The manner in which he will be leaving is still not certain but I'm sure Marvel is going to make it something special. I mean, they have to. Iron Man started the whole Universe back in 2008 with the first Iron Man film. He is undoubtedly an icon and has been a pillar for the huge success of all the Marvel films.
Everything will definitely come together on April 26th when Avengers: Endgame finally hits theaters.
