Jason Momoa stars as a nine-foot-tall half-man, half-beast creature in upcoming fantasy film on Netflix.
Netflix is cooking another big fantasy film starring 'Aquaman' Jason Mamoa.
'Slumberland' is an upcoming high-budget film adaptation based on a 1905 comic strip. It will be helmed by Francis Lawrence, whose previous big works include 'Constantine, 'I Am Legend,' 'The Hunger Games' films, and 'Red Sparrow.'
'Night at the Museum: The Secret Tomb' and 'Dinner for Schmucks' writer duo David Guion and Michael Handelman penned the script, with Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, and David Ready producing via their production company Chernin. Entertainment.
Let's find out what this high-budget film is all about.
Slumberland is based on the 1905 comic 'Little Nemo in Slumberland' by Winsor McCay. The original comic strip follows a young boy named Nemo, but Netflix's adaptation is bringing in a young girl for the lead role.
The fantasy film will follow Nema and her adventures in a mystical land as she searches for her lost father.
Here is the official logline for the upcoming film:
A young girl, Nema, with the help of a large half-man/half-monster creature, travels to a mystical land in her dreams in search of her missing Father. 11-year-old Nema lives in a lighthouse with her father, Peter, who has taught her how to sail. Sadly, Peter dies one night during a storm at sea. Nema is sent to live with her estranged uncle Philip, who is dull and nothing like Peter. Nema discovers a world called “Slumberland” in her dreams. She encounters Flip (Momoa), a creature who claims to have been an outlaw with Peter years ago, stealing things from other peoples’ dreams. Nema decides to go on an adventure with Flip when he claims to know a way that she can wish for her father back.
Netflix is yet to announce an exact release date, but the current production schedule seems to indicate that we will have to wait until 2022.
