Can the second season of this critically acclaimed western animation hold it's popularity among the fans? Let's find out what lies ahead for Invincible Season 2.
Robert Kirkman’s American comic book series got an animated adaptation last year and quickly impressed fans and critics alike. The first season of Invincible got nothing but widespread critical and commercial acclaim despite people doubting its capacity to succeed in its first few episodes. Invincible had everything ranging from a seamless mix of characters with depth, an animation style that reminded us of the early 2000s Marvel and DC series, and most importantly, it was a faithful adaptation of the source material. Now the real question is, when are the fans getting a second season of Invincible? Let’s find out.
Amazon Prime Studios have been listening to the prayers of the fans and they've already announced the renewal of Invincible for a second and a third season. The producers responded to the social media buzz and petitions created by fans and announced Invincible’s renewal on Twitter back in April 2021. Invincible’s creator Robert Kirkman spoke to Collider and said that the “production timeline is somewhat daunting.” He also hinted that it’s going to be difficult to pull off the new episodes. However, it has been more than one year since we've had further announcements regarding an exact release date, but fans are hopeful that the greenlit seasons 2 and 3 might air in 2023.

The story follows a teenager named Mark Grayson, who happens to be the son of Omni-Man, the most powerful superhero in their world. 17-year-old Mark gains his superpowers right after his birthday, and under the tutelage of his father, Mark begins to learn how to use his abilities, all the while trying to maintain a balance between his superhero obligations and his personal life. However, the world Mark resides in and the father he looks up to might not be what he thinks they are, and there are darker conspiracies waiting to unfold.
Invincible season one had a star-studded cast, with protagonist Mark Grayson being voiced by actor Steven Yeun. Omi-Man, or Nolan Grayson, is voiced by Spiderman actor J.K Simmons and his wife, Debbie Grayson, is voiced by Grey’s Anatomy fame Sandra Oh. Secondary characters such as Atom Eve and Rex Splode are voiced by Gillian Jacobs and Jason Mantzoukas, respectively. Rudy Connors, or Robot, is voiced by two actors, Zachary Quinto and Ross Marquand, and Malese Jow voices Dupli-Kate.
If we look at the season one finale and the gruesome battle that commenced in it, it’s safe to assume that Mark Grayson’s life in Chicago has been turned upside down after Omni-Man destroyed their family and half of the city before seemingly leaving the planet. The fans can expect Omni-Man to return once again along with some of Mark’s other enemies. Grayson now has to take his place as the Earth’s champion and finish high school which is going to be another challenge for him. We can look forward to Mark and Amber’s strengthened relationship and hope that it lasts long enough.
