‘Insidious 5’ – Sony Pictures Is Heading Back Into The Further on July 7, 2023! https://t.co/nSbFtHZvV8— Bloody Disgusting (@BDisgusting) July 19, 2022
To refresh, the first Insidious film followed the Lambert family whose child Dalton played by Ty Simpkins falls into an inexplicable coma which opens up a portal between reality and another supernatural (mostly menacing) dimension called ‘The Further.’ As the series progressed, we find out that Dalton’s father Josh (Patrick Wilson) had some repressed encounters with evil spirits that were passed down to his son. If the curse didn’t present enough of a problem, the Lamberts had to send Josh back to his childhood to stop the said curse. Which he does, successfully (One for the win!).
Sony Delays ‘Madame Web’ Three Months, Sets ‘Insidious 5’ for July 2023 https://t.co/Wr4k9AQtzv— Variety (@Variety) July 19, 2022
Coming back after five years, the film will focus on the Lambert family after the son Dalton and father Josh had ventured into ‘The Further’ and fixed their childhood traumas that eventually became a generational problem. Get ready to see Dalton facing the familiar hauntings as the crack in the door left in Insidious: Chapter 2 as the film ended with the surviving medium, Carl, repressing the memories of both Josh and Dalton, to help protect them from further invasion by the dead and demonic. Insidious: Chapter 3 and Insidious: Chapter 4 were prequels focussing on demon hunter Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye). Another reason this film is highly anticipated is that Patrick Wilson will be directing this installment of the film.
"I'm honored and thrilled to be at the helm of the next Insidious installment, which will provide an amazing chance to unpack everything the Lamberts went through a decade ago, as well as deal with the consequences of their choices," Patrick Wilson said in a statement when Insidious 5 was announced in 2020. "Directing the movie is both professionally and personally a full-circle moment for me, and I am extremely grateful to be entrusted with continuing to tell this frightening and haunting story. Into The Further, we go."
Wilson will be teaming up with writer Scott Teems (Halloween Kills, Narcos: Mexico, The Exorcist reboot) to showcase the films to audiences. This news comes a week before San Diego Comic-Con, ScreenRant mentioned. In light of this, Sony has announced a slew of release date changes and additions to its calendar, Insidious 5 being one of them.
