'The White Lotus' Season 2 Has Wrapped Filming

The White Lotus’ second season will launch next month, though a date has yet to be announced.

The most awarded series at The Emmys, White Lotus has wrapped up with its season two, reported Deadline.

White Lotus season 2 is set to return with its new cast at a new destination. The filming for the sophomore season of the comedy-drama has officially wrapped. While much of the next installment saw cameras rolling inside and around Sicily’s San Domenico Palace Taormina, the rest of the filming was carried out at Lumina, an offshoot of Cinecittà.

Season 1 followed the guests—as well as the employees—of the White Lotus resort as they encounter some snags and deal with messy relationships during what is supposed to be a luxurious and relaxing Hawaiian island getaway. Everything starts off like a typical vacation, with some minor inconveniences, but it all unravels and ends in someone’s death.

The TV show buzzed all around to a level that it ended up getting 20 nominations for the Emmys and most of the actors took several awards home. Up against DopesickThe Dropout, Inventing Anna, and Pam & Tommy, the celebrated series bagged the award for Outstanding Limited Series. Meanwhile, Coolidge and her co-star Murray Bartlett took home the awards for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series, respectively.

The White Lotus’ second season will launch next month, though a date has yet to be announced. HBO released a teaser asset for the season last month. The cast includes Jennifer Coolidge (the only actor known to be returning from season one), F. Murray Abraham, Adam DiMarco, Tom Hollander, Michael Imperioli, Aubrey Plaza, Haley Lu Richardson, Theo James, Meghann Fahy, Will Sharpe, and Leo Woodall. Mike White returns as writer and director.

HBO has said the new season will “follow a different group of vacationers as they jet to another White Lotus property and settle in temporarily amongst its inhabitants.” Aubrey Plaza, who is set for a key role, told Entertainment Tonight: “I know it’s a lot to live up to, but Mike [White] is so good about making the second season different. It’s still The White Lotus, but now it’s in Italy, so it has a totally different vibe and so, I think people are going to be surprised.”
