Prepare for another sensual and thrilling chapter as the doors of Las Encinas opens to a new batch of students. 'Elite' returns to Netflix in June.
After getting watched by 20 million households within its first month of release on Netflix, 'Elite' has cemented its standing as one of the best performing shows on the platform.
The unrepressed and sensual Spanish thriller debuted on Netflix on October 5, 2018, and was renewed immediately for season 2 on the same month that year.
'Elite' takes place in a super-exclusive high school in Spain called Las Encinas. The school caters to wealthy students but also gives away scholarships. Things started to go awry when a student named Marina gets murdered.
The murder mystery may have been resolved by the end of season 3, but Las Encinas will not remain peaceful for long. New threats arise as new characters get introduced for 'Elite' season 4.
Here's everything we know.
The fourth season of 'Elite' will premiere on Netflix on June 18, 2021.
The official renewal announcement came in May 2020. The show is among the best performing titles on Netflix, and the streamer made sure to keep up with the subscribers' demand. New seasons took shorter production times compared to other shows. 'Elite' managed to release new seasons with less than one year gap, except for Season 4, which took 13 months. However, knowing how much the Coronavirus pandemic has delayed different television shows and movies worldwide, 'Elite' season 4's turnaround time can still be considered pretty swift.
Netflix is so pleased with the Spanish teen thriller's performance that it has already greenlit the show for season 5. The streamer officially announced the renewal of the show on February 2021, long before season 4 arrived on the platform. You can count on us to write a separate preview for 'Elite' season 5.
New students have arrived and that only means one thing: more trouble. We don't know how exactly the new characters are going to stir the pot, but the official trailer suggests that the new season will be just as dramatic and provocative as the previous installments, if not more.
By the end of season 3, Guzmán, Samuel, Rebeca, Ander, and Omar are all still at Las Encinas. The show's main mystery, which began with Marina's murder, has been solved. It can only mean that the new season will introduce new predicaments. The trouble will likely begin when the old cast members come face to face with the new students.
While waiting for 'Elite' season 4 to unfold, you might also want to check out 'Elite: Short Stories.' The mini-show will dive deep into the back story of different characters and will air on Netflix from June 14-17. These stories take place during the summer, right before school starts in Las Encinas again. Consider 'Elite: Short Stories' as a preparation before the fourth season comes out on the 18th.
"Every new season we write we always end up leaving some stories of our characters out. They do not fit into the format, or there is no physical time to develop them, and you are always left with the bitter taste that we would have liked to share them with everyone. This is how the idea of ÉLITE Short Stories arises," co-creator Carlos Montero said in a Netflix press release.
Around half of the main characters said goodbye to the show by the end of season 3. Carla (Ester Expósito), Polo (Álvaro Rico), Nadia (Mina El Hammani), Lucrecia (Danna Paola) and Valerio (Jorge López) will no longer come back for season 4, as well as season 3 newcomers Yeray (Sergio Momo) and Leïti Sène (Malick).
Meanwhile, Cayetana (Georgina Amorós), Rebeca (Claudia Salas), Guzmán (Miguel Bernadeu), Samuel (Itzan Escamilla), Ander (Arón Piper) and Omar (Omar Ayuso) are all returning for season 4.
As mentioned, the fourth season will introduce us to several new faces. Patrick (Manu Ríos), Ari (Carla Díaz), Mencía (Martina Cariddi), and Phillippe (Pol Granch) will thicken the new plot for season 4.
