Christian Bale is all set to join the cast of Thor 4 as the main villain.
Our favorite Dark Knight has just joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This time Bale won't be saving the day but trying to destroy it. There were rumors circulating the web that Bale was joining the cast of Thor 4. Marvel Studios remained tight-lipped about it but MCU star Tessa Thompson spoke to Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet, confirming the news.
"Christian Bale is going to play our villain, which is going to be fantastic.
I’ve read the script. I can’t tell you much. Lots of exciting text messages exchanged between Natalie [Portman] and I.
We’re going to have fun.
Taika [Waititi] is writing and directing. Some familiar faces. Some new people coming into the mix."
Chris Hemsworth will be returning to take on the titular role of Thor and Natalie Portman is set to return as Jane Foster.
We can also expect Taika Waititi to return as a writer and director. He spoke to EW saying:
"The next Thor film I’m doing, basically, we’re sort of launching ourselves again on this adventure film, really.
That was the thing really that I loved about doing Ragnarok, it felt like we were just putting Thor on a really cool adventure.
There’s always like new things to see and do, and this one, I think we’re gonna double down a lot on that and have it bigger, bolder and brighter. There’s gonna be some really crazy stuff in the film."
Waititi confirmed that filming for Thor 4 will begin in the summer.
He told Variety:
"Well, we move down to Sydney around April, I think, maybe. And then we’ll start shooting probably around August, I think."
But it is unclear if the Coronavirus outbreak will in any way affect the schedule.
Thor: Love and Thunder is scheduled to hit cinemas on November 5, 2021.
