'Black Adam': Everything We Know So Far

Dwayne Johnson's anti-hero film is coming out next year. Here are all the latest updates.

When it comes to ''The Rock'' Dwayne Johnson, there's always a lot of expectation and excitement about his new projects. However, 'Black Adam' is going to be the most interesting movie in his lineup as this is his first set out into the superhero circus.

Johnson is teaming up with 'Jungle Cruise' director Jaume Collet-Serra for the upcoming anti-hero film.

Production for the 'Black Adam' movie finally began back in April, and the release date is also available.

Here is everything you need to know about 'Black Adam.'

When is the Release Date of 'Black Adam'?

'Black Adam' currently has a release date of July 29, 2022.

The movie was originally scheduled to come out this year. However, The Covid-19 pandemic prevented Warner Bros from working on the film for the past couple of months. The studio was forced to take the movie off their 'UPCOMING DC MOVIES' for 2021.

Production gets pushed back from the initial July 2020 schedule. On April 10, 2021, Dwayne Johnson announced via Instagram that they are officially on their first day of filming for 'Black Adam'. By mid-July, Dwayne announced that he has finished filming all his scenes.

We will keep track of the recent developments and update this space once there are changes on the release date.

What Is The Plot Of 'Black Adam'?

Most of the exact plot details are kept under wraps. However, we expect the film to give us the background story of the anti-hero.

Black Adam first appeared in Fawcett's initial production run of Captain Marvel comics. He is an ancient Egyptian named Teth-Adam, who got chosen to be the successor of wizard Shazam. However, the enormous powers he inherited eventually corrupted his character. He was sealed away for thousands of years but got resurrected and became one of Captain Marvel's biggest nemeses.

Black Adam was supposed to be initially introduced in the 2019 film 'Shazam', but the studio thought that it would be better for the hero to get featured in a separate movie. Nonetheless, Johnson promises that the two characters will eventually meet in the DC universe.

Henry Cavill also revealed that his Superman and Black Adam may also happen in the future, although a face-off between Black Adam and Shazam should go first.

“There is definitely some kind of work towards that,” Cavill told MTV.

“I’m pretty sure it’ll be a Shazam/Black Adam thing first. If it does happen, it would make sense that way. But you never know, maybe there will be a Superman movie and Shazam will come and help.”

Who Are In The Cast of 'Black Adam'?

Dwayne Johnson will play the titular role, 'Black Adam'. Dwayne ''The Rock'' Johnson is an actor, producer, and retired professional wrestler.

Noah Centineo will star as the close friend and enemy to Black Adam, Atom Smasher. Noah is best known for his role as Peter Kavinsky in 'To All the Boys I've Loved Before'.

Aldis Hodge will portray Hawkman.

Quintessa Swindell will play Cyclone.

Sarah Shahi will portray Isis.

Additionally, Marwan Kenzari, Uli Latufeku, and the stand-up comedy guy Mo Amer will also be part of the project in yet-to-be-disclosed roles.

Bill Westenhofer is on board as the visual effects supervisor for the film. Adam Sztykiel, Rory Haines, and Sohrab Noshirvani wrote the screenplay.

Is There An Official Trailer For 'Black Adam'?

There is no official trailer yet. The film is already in post-production. However, it might require more time to edit the film due to its extensive visual effects. Hence, the official trailer might not be available until early next year. Don't worry though because DC has already released a teaser trailer for the upcoming movie.

The animated teaser trailer concept art is narrated by Dwayne Johnson. It was released by DC in August of 2020. The teaser trailer gives us an outline of the movie.
