The Abbott family's story of survival continues.
The Abbott family returns to continue their quest for survival in 'A Quiet Place Part II' after the harrowing events of the first film.
The highly-acclaimed horror film takes an even scarier turn as they venture into the unknown for the sequel.
Here is everything you need to know about 'A Quiet Place Part II.'
Listed release date as of this writing: 23 April 2021
'A Quiet Place Part II' is among the list of unfortunate films delayed due to the pandemic.
The highly-anticipated sequel premiered in New York City on March 8, 2020, and was supposed to hit the theaters in the same month, before getting delayed to September 2020, and finally 23 April 2021.
Much like the rest of the films initially set to release in 2020, 'A Quiet Place Part II' has already wrapped up filming.
We can only hope that the theaters are already operating at significant capacity when the film releases.
The sequel will pick up on the events of the first film. A quick recap:
'A Quiet Place' ended with the survival of most of the Abbott family (except John Krasinski's father character, Lee, and his young son Beau, who died in the early part of the film).
In the upcoming sequel, the surviving members of the Abbott family continue their quests to survive. They must now venture into the outdoors but soon realize that the sightless extraterrestrial creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk outside.
There are still a lot of questions left unanswered even after the first film concluded. While we know that the monsters have an extremely powerful sense of hearing, we still don't know where they're from, how they arrived on Earth, and how the other survivors are doing.
The good thing is, we are going to see Krasinski back despite his unfortunate death in the first film, presumably to help shed some light on these questions through flashbacks.
Speaking about the return, Krasinski spoke to The Ellen DeGeneres Show and revealed that the sequel would deal with how everything started.
"No, it was one of those things where I wasn’t going to do a second one because the first one was such a personal experience. It was my love letter to my kids, which looks insane now that you’re watching that.
"But it was really important for me to continue the metaphor. We actually start dealing with how this all started. So there’s a little bit in the movie about how it all started."
The surviving members of the Abbott family are reprising their roles for the sequel.
That is Emily Blunt as Evelyn Abbott, Millicent Simmonds as Regan Abbott, and Noah Jupe as Marcus.
Despite his death in the first film, Krasinski is also confirmed to reprise his role as Lee Abbott. His character is likely to return through flashbacks. Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou are joining the team for the sequel. They appear to be survivors who will come across the Abbott family after they went away from home.
Here's the official trailer for 'A Quiet Place Part II.' Once again, the sequel will release in theaters on 23 April 2021.
