The Golden Palace is coming to Hulu. This Golden Girls sequel is not as well known as the original series but is still a fresh dose of wit and charm from the elderly women without Bea Arthur. The show did not do as well as the original either.

The Golden Girls ran successfully for seven seasons starring Arthur, Betty White, Rue McClanahan, and Estelle Getty. It followed the four women who share a friendship and a home in Miami, Florida, as they share their various experiences together and enjoy themselves despite hard times. The viewers of the show fell in love with the ladies and bid a painful goodbye to them in their finale episode that aired on May 9, 1992.

It came to an end when Arthur chose to leave the series. At the end of the series, Dorothy (Arthur) meets and marries Blanche's (McClanahan) uncle Lucas (Leslie Nielsen) and moves to Hollingsworth Manor in Atlanta. Sophia (Getty) who was supposed to join her decides to stay behind in the end with the other women in Miami. This set the premises for the obscure spin-off series, The Golden Palace. The show did not do as well with the three-member lead cast. In fact, it aired for only a single season with 24 episodes.

The show followed Rose, Blanche, and Sophia as they sell their Miami home to invest in a hotel that is on sale as their retirement plan. But the hotel is running under a loss and the women in their golden years have to roll back their sleeves to keep the hotel afloat again with a skeleton cast comprising Chuy (Cheech Marin, formerly of Cheech and Chong), a Mexican chef with in-law problems; Roland (Don Cheadle), a black would-be entrepreneur serving as house manager, and Oliver (Billy L. Sullivan), an abandoned 12-year-old with street smarts. Dorothy pays them a visit as well for a quick and heartwarming reunion of the foursome.

The show may have not done well, but die-hard fans of the show, who did not mind the course of the show did not have access to this spin-off either since it was a rarity and the series was not even available for purchase. Until now. The series is headed to Hulu and will be available for streaming from January 10. This will be right on time for Betty White's birthday as well, which is on January 19. What a great way to celebrate her birthday as well!
