Snyder is back in action to work on his long delayed sci-fi dream project.
It seems Zack Snyder is out to prove that an epic sci-fi space opera can exist and succeed outside the Star Wars and Dune franchise. After seemingly cutting his ties with the DC Cinematic Universe, Snyder is working on a passion project which he had originally pitched to Lucasfilms as a Star Wars project. But things did not go as planned and now Snyder has reworked his script for the film and titled it Rebel Moon, which is to an extent inspired by the works of Akira Kurosawa. If Snyder fans are bubbling with curiosity and want to know more about Rebel Moon and everything there is to know about this humongous intergalactic adventure film, keep reading ahead.
The filming began on April 19, 2022, and concluded on December 2, 2022. But unfortunately, we don’t have a release date yet. Since the film is divided into two parts, the first part is expected to arrive in late 2023 if they don’t face any delays with post-production work.
So far we have only received some official stills from the production and a few concept arts. There aren't enough exclusive details about the plot and its progression yet but the official synopsis of the upcoming Netflix movie reads as follows:
The story is set in motion when a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy is threatened by the armies of a tyrannical regent named Balisarius. Desperate, the colonists dispatch a young woman with a mysterious past to seek out warriors from neighboring planets to help them make a stand.
The protagonist is named Kora who is described as a bold, confident, and self-possessed woman and she is the hope of her people. The protagonist will set out on a journey to seek help and discover her self-worth along the way in an epic tale of galactic warfare and adventure.
The massive cast list of this film includes Sofia Boutella as Kora, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher as Blood Axe, Djimon Hounsou as General Titus, Charlie Hunnam, Jena Malone, Cary Elwes, Michiel Huisman, Ed Skrein as Balisarius, Patrick Luwis as Ivar, Tomm Voss as Kullen and Claire Liz Phillips as Reaper. Zack Snyder has written the story himself and he will be in the director's chair as well. Snyder's wife Deborah Snyder serves as one of the producers and the film will be distributed worldwide by Netflix.
Since the film is currently in the post-production stage, we have no trailers yet but Netflix shared Zack Snyder and cast member Sofia Boutella announcing the film and promising us an epic adventure on screen. Check it out right below.
