'Y: The Last Man' Episode 4 Recap And Ending Explained: Who Are Karen And Benji?

Y: The Last Man is a post-apocalyptic series adapted from the graphic novels series of the same name by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra. The series premiered on September 13 and is now streaming on FX on Hulu. The adaptation is developed by Eliza Clark. The series delves into the matter of gender identity and the changing perception of what gender means. 

The story of this post-apocalyptic drama takes off as all the creatures in the world with Y chromosomes perish. Except for Yorick Brown (Ben Schnetzer) who manages to survive and is the last man on Earth. Yorrick now has to navigate the new landscape with his pet monkey.

Episode 4 Recap: Karen And Benji

In the fourth episode, we follow Yorrick and Hero's separate adventures in the new world. Yorrick has teamed up with Agent 355 and Hero with Sam. Yorrick and Agent 355 have retired to the woods where they are found by a group of women. Yorrick has to protect his identity as he chases the women away while Agent 355 is at the market exchanging a generator and a grenade for a bike. Yorrick exposes his identity as he tries to chase down a woman he thinks is Beth, the woman he is still hung up about. He is spotted by a bunch of cops, who were previously the wives of the cops who were killed in the Event and decided to take their husband's job. Yorrick is almost beaten up by them before he is rescued by Agent 355 on the new bike she has scored.

Agent 355 then gives Yorrick a piece of her mind for his selfish antics. She reminds him that he is now the most important person in the world and needs to focus on the bigger picture to save humanity than pursue his selfish interests. After realizing the gravity of the situation, Yorrick decides to do better in their search for geneticist Dr. Allison Mann who is the key to finding out how he managed to survive the Event.

As for Hero and Sam, they are trying to make their way back to Washington DC. They find shelter at a house where Hero meets mother-daughter duo Nora and her injured daughter Mackenzie whose wounds she treats. But a group of women then arrive at the house claiming it was their house and take the four of them forcefully to an unidentified location. There Nora tries to gain their favor by saying Hero can treat an injured member of the women group lead by Roxanne. The injured woman is killed by Roxanne to spare her from pain. She allows Hero's group to tag along.

Hero Hides Her Identity

When Hero and Sam first meet Nora and Mckenzie she introduces herself as Karen so as to not reveal herself as the daughter of the President. She introduces Sam as Benji, which is where the episode title comes from. Nora already knows Hero but promises to keep her identity a secret since she could become an easy target.
