Wonder Woman 3 Is Confirmed; Gal Gadot, Lynda Carter & Director Patty Jenkins To Return

Wonder Woman is officially on its way with Patty Jenkins confirmed to return as director.

Wonder Woman 3 is now officially in the works. Patty Jenkins is also confirmed to return to helm the film. She will be joined by Gal Gadot who will be reprising her role as our favorite Amazonian warrior Diana Prince.

Patty Jenkins herself confirmed the news during the recent DC FanDome event. She said:

We're super excited about Wonder Woman 3. Gal (Gadot), who is so bummed about not being here, who's the busiest person in the world, with now three little kids and shooting.
We are all three very excited about some things coming up with Wonder Woman 3.

Lynda Carter, who played Wonder Woman in the 1970s series also revealed the third film saying simply:

Wonder Woman 3 is coming!
Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman

Carter made a cameo midway through the credits of Wonder Woman 1984 as Asteria and she is confirmed to return in the third film. During the DC FanDome she said:

It's so much more than a comic book character it is an idea and an essence. As a matter of fact I wrote a song for you and for Gal, based on an original lyric I had started for my husband but when I did your movie I finished writing this song that comes out in October actually called 'Human and Divine,' and it's about the love of Wonder Woman.

Critics did not fall in love with Wonder Woman 1984, giving it a not-so-amazing 58% on Rotten Tomatoes. This, however, hasn't stopped Warner Bros. Pictures from going all in for a third installment in the franchise. It is unclear if this will be the last time we see Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman but ending in a trilogy seems most probable.

The plot details for the upcoming Wonder Woman film are currently unknown. Jenkins has mentioned, per Deadline, that we may see a return by Kristen Wiig as the villainous Barbara Minerva AKA Cheetah.

I have my reasons for making it ambiguous, and I think it's not clear what her [Barbara] point of view [is] on everything that just happened. I love that we wrap up Max Lord's point of view and that you see the culmination of that storyline, I think is so important. But the truth is there may or may not be more to come [for Barbara]
