The film followed Kevin McCallister, a boy who defends his Chicago home from burglars who decide to rob it after his family accidentally leaves him behind on their Christmas vacation to Paris.
The film was directed by Chris Columbus and written and produced by John Hughes. This film was followed by three sequels, with the original cast only appearing in the second installment, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.
