‘What If…?’ Episode 7 Ending Explained: How Thor Becomes The Party Prince

This episode was the funniest yet as Thor visits Earth for the first time and makes a jolly time out of it

'What if...?' Episode 7

In the seventh episode of Marvel's What If...? series we move on from the serious misadventures that the characters of the MCU have been going through to a much lighter episode. In this episode, we follow Thor as we reimagine the scenario where the Norse god was an only child and his father did not take in Loki. The episode was the funniest yet as Thor visits Earth for the first time and makes a jolly time out of it.

There are interesting subplots that keep you hooked as we watch the God of Thunder become the Party Prince in this lighthearted episode. But like the rest of the episodes, this one too ends in a cliffhanger despite the general nature of the plot. There are spoilers ahead, fair warning.

''What If…?' Episode 7: Synopsis and Ending Explained

In this alternative universe where Thor is an only child, he does not have to go through the challenges that presented themselves with a brother like Loki. As the only child, Thor turned into a spoilt brat with a smooth life. When his mother, Frigga decides to visit her sisters she warns Thor to behave. But Thor and his crew, the Warriors Five, arrive on Earth instead and decide to throw the biggest party ever.

'What if...?' Episode 7

No episode is complete without the threat of destruction of the planet which is what Jane Foster and her friend, Darcy discover. Jane contacts SHIELD about the contact our planet has made with an alien race and they manage to track down Thor. Jane goes to meet Thor and falls for him. So when SHIELD believes he will lead to the destruction of Earth, Jane denies it. When SHIELD tries to eliminate him anyway, Jane tells on Thor to his mother, hoping Frigga can come to collect her son before he causes the destruction of the planet with his party. Much like kids who try to clean up after a party they were not supposed to throw, Thor cleans up his party to pretend he was on Earth for cultural exchange purposes. He manages to get his act together just in time.

The Arrival of Vision-Ultron

After managing to convince his mother that he was with his study group, Thor meets up with Jane again. He tells her he will call her but she refuses, instead, asking him to ask her out on a date. The Watcher then narrates that the two lived happily ever after in this version of the MCU. But just as he finishes his narration, he is surprised by the arrival of a group of Ultron. Even before Thor and Jane can walk off into the desert, the main Ultron who possesses all of the Infinity Stones appears. The episode promptly ends after this reveal in a cliffhanger threatening again the potential destruction of the Earth.
