'Vikings' Season 7: Everything We Know So Far

This is a live-update article and it will be updated as new details about Vikings Season 7 come our way. This is what we know so far.

Vikings

The popular TV series 'Vikings' has recently concluded its sixth season on the History Channel. The final episode for season 6 was aired on March 3, 2021, which marked the eighth anniversary of the show's premiere in Canada back in 2013. Despite the death of the main character Ragnar Lothbrok in season four, the show still has a massive fan base. Many viewers are now curious about the possibility of a seventh season. So, is there going to be a season 7? Let's take a look at what we know so far.

Will There Be 'Vikings' Season 7?

'Vikings' season 6 will be the last season for the show. Technically, the series already concluded back on December 30, 2020, when the second half of the sixth season was released in its entirety on Prime Video in Ireland, before it arrived on History Channel in Canada from January 1 to March 3, 2021. In more than seven years, the show aired a total of 89 episodes. Season 6 has been marketed as the final season long before it was released, with its official trailer saying, "the saga comes to an end".

"I always knew how Vikings would end and, after 89 episodes, I truly believe the saga of Ragnar Lothbrok and his sons has been told and we are leaving our beloved fans with the proper and definitive ending they so deserve," Creator Michael Hirst said in a statement following the renewal of the series in season 6. Season 6 had 20 episodes which were released in two parts.  It is indeed bittersweet information, but fans shouldn't be sad because it's not the end of the Vikings' tale.

Vikings

Netflix developed a sequel series, titled 'Vikings: Valhalla'. Netflix's take on the popular series is set 100 years since the events of 'Vikings' and will feature the original locations from the first series, albeit with a lot of changes brought about by the time jump.

"It is being made in the same places, a lot of it. We go back to Kattegat. That, of course, is the spiritual home of the Vikings. But it's a changed Kattegat," creator Michael Hirst told Collider about Vikings: Valhalla.

For some fans, the conclusion for the 'Vikings' series has been long overdue. Some of them are very upset after Ragnar, the series star, was killed after he was thrown into a pit filled with poisonous snakes in season 4.
