After he was accused of stabbing his girlfriend 20 times, an actor from How I Met Your Mother was apprehended attempting to flee the country.

Nick Pasqual, 34, tried to flee the country before his hearing and was caught. He was taken into custody and is now being held in a small-town jail in Texas, about 16 miles from the Mexican border.

In relation to an alleged attack on his girlfriend Allie Shehorn, 35, on May 23, Pasqual is currently being charged with murder, domestic abuse, and assault.

Although a transfer date has not yet been determined, LA District Attorney George Gascon has stated that the actor will be sent to California.

He is currently being held in the Hudspeth County Jail in the remote town of Sierra Blanca, in the country's most southern state.

A spokeswoman for the LA District Attorney's office stated on Tuesday: "The defendant has not been extradited to LA County from Texas. There is no arraignment date scheduled as of today."

Gascon has previously said: "This heinous incident is a stark reminder of the dangers of domestic violence. We will ensure that the individual responsible for this egregious act is held accountable for their actions."

Actor Pasqual is accused of abusing Shehorn for months, and on May 18, a restraining order was placed against him.

In an early morning rage, Pasqual screamed at his partner because he was 'under the influence', according to Shehorn.

Pasqual is best known for his role as college student Will in the popular CBS series How I Met Your Mother.

The makeup artist recalled: "He slapped me across the face and as I was trying to get away down the hallway, he grabbed my hair and pulled me back and I slammed into the floor hitting the back of my head on the ground."

She claims that she attempted to hide in the bedroom of Christine White, the couple's housemate and "surrogate mother."

She stated that while they phoned 911, he started to threaten her. However, according to LAPD records, officials soon arrived, arrested him, and charged him with felony domestic abuse. That same day, he was able to get out of jail.

Shehorn is currently recovering from the attack in hospital, but has made good progress, recently being moved out of the ICU.

She has been'making positive steps' back to recovering physically and mentally after the attack, according to the most recent post on her GoFundMe page, which was created to aid in her recovery.

Since the attack was made public last week, donations for the makeup artist have been pouring in; almost $110,000 (£86,480) has been raised so far.

A hearing over whether the restraining order will be made permanent was scheduled for 11 June in Pasadena, California, while Pasqual was due to appear in court for a felony charge in San Fernando, California on 12 June.
