Following the tradition of the onscreen Spider-Man couples who have dated in real life is the latest pairing of Tom Holland and Zendaya. There has been speculation for a while now regarding their relationship status, which started when they first starred in Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and later when pictures of the two making out in a car surfaced online. While the stars had not confirmed what the kiss meant at the time, their appearance together at the 2021 Ballon D'Or awards ceremony on November 29 seems to have solidified their status as Hollywood's next big couple.

This was their first official red carpet appearance as a couple after Holland more or less confirmed the relationship in an interview with GQ. "One of the downsides of our fame is that privacy isn't really in our control anymore, and a moment that you think is between two people that love each other very much is now a moment that is shared with the entire world," Holland had stated about the image of the pair kissing that had gone viral. "I've always been really adamant to keep my private life private because I share so much of my life with the world anyway," he added. "We sort of felt robbed of our privacy."

The 25-year-olds are not ready to have the conversation about their relationship yet but have expressed how much they care for each other. With the next installment of the Spider-Man series, Spider-Man: No Way Home, set to release on December 16, they are preparing for the onslaught of questions about their relationship. "I think loving someone is a sacred thing and a special thing and something that you want to deal with and go through and experience and enjoy amongst the two people that love each other," Zendaya has stated about the whole situation. But the stars realize that this is a part of their job as actors and a price that comes with fame. Fans, however, seem to be more than happy about the relationship.

In a recent promotion for the film Dune, when Zendaya and her co-star Timotheé Chalamet were playing the BFF test with rapid-fire questions, Chalamet seemed to spill some well-protected beans. When asked who the other's celebrity crush was, Chalamet immediately said, "Easy, Tom Holland." Zendaya responded with a big laugh before saying, "I don't actually know!" and quickly added, "Maybe that's a secret on purpose."

In 2017, an insider told PEOPLE, "They started seeing each other while they were filming Spider-Man. They've been super careful to keep it private and out of the public eye, but they've gone on vacations with each other and try and spend as much time as possible with one another." The source added, "They're both really ambitious, and they challenge each other—but, most importantly, they make each other crack up. They seem to have a really similar sense of humor and love joking around together. They have great banter back and forth."
