These 9 Actors Were Badly Cursed After Playing These Roles

Showbiz is a very dangerous business and there are many unexplained instances that happen and here is a list of actors who were cursed after a movie role.

Acting in Hollywood is no less than living a dream. The fat paycheques, the dreamy red carpet premieres are just a couple of the perks the women and men enjoy by being a part of Hollywood. There are a number of instances where a movie or an entire movie franchise is cursed. But did you know there are a number of actors and actresses who have had a string of bad luck after starring in a particular movie role and we have prepared a list of actors who are plagued by the curse?

1. Kristen Bell

Kristen Bell is regarded as a national sweetheart and she has an all-around loveable Hollywood personality. Bell also has a reputation as a fairly decent actress, but most of her movies have been critical and commercial flops. Most of her movies like 'When in Rome' 'Pulse', 'Fanboys', and 'Burlesque' were all box office flops and her TV series Veronica Mars was also canceled way before its time. Bell's biggest hit to date has been the Disney worldwide smash hit, Frozen, in which she played the role of Elsa's sister Anna, but even for this role, she did not appear on the screen and did the voice acting.

2. Christopher Reeves

For the new generation, Christopher Reeves became the face of Superman for the younger generations. He took the mantle from George Reeves and he first starred in the role back in 1978 and took the title role in three sequels. In 1999 he was paralyzed while riding a horse. He started responding to rehabilitation, but was tragically so prone to infection that he eventually died of a heart failure in 2004.

3. Adrien Brody

Twitter

There was a time when Adrian Brody was compared to Al Pacino after he became the youngest male to win an Oscar in 2003. His first Hollywood leading role was his Academy Award-winning movie 'The Pianist' and from there, it seemed like his career would only become better from now on. But, after 'The Pianist', he made some really bad choices while choosing a movie including The Village and The Singing Detective and both the movies were bashed by the critics. Since then, his roles have been patchy at best and he has never come close to achieving anywhere close to achieving the leading man status.

4. Chris Lowell

Twitter

'Life As We Know It' only ran for one season and soon after 'Veronica Mars' got canceled after Chris Lowell joined the cast. Private Practice started picking up after his character was killed off at the end of the third season and since then he has fallen into the trap of the television curse.

5. George Reeves

Twitter

There are a number of actors who played the role of Superman way before George Reeves, but he is the first memorable and recognizable face of the superhero and the first definitive Superman by starring in the TV series 'The Adventures of Superman'. George Reeves is also regarded as the first Superman actor to experience what is now known as the Superman Curse. In fact, he became so closely associated with the role of Superman that it was literally impossible for him to land a successful role in anything else, therefore his career became bleak and neared an end. The worst yet, Reeves was found dead in 1959, just a few days before his marriage.

6. Matthew Perry

Twitter

Matthew Perry is well-known for his role as Chandler Bing in the hit sitcom 'F.R.I.E.N.D.S' but after this series, he has failed to secure any role of the same magnitude. He has long suffered from his addiction, due to which his career took a backseat. Since then, he has starred in a few supporting roles and we are yet to see him in a role as funny and as brilliant as Chandler Bing's.

7. Halle Berry

Twitter

In 2002, Halle Berry became the first African American woman to win an Oscar in the Best Actress category for her role in Monster’s Ball. She delivered an unforgettable speech, but bad luck has followed her ever since her Oscar win and it seems like she has failed to make a good career choice. Soon after her win, she starred in 'Gothika' which received a very negative response from the critics and it was followed by Catwoman and she received a Razzie Award for Worst Actress. After a while, she reprised her role as Storm in three X-Men sequels and she did feature as the Bond girl but her formidable acting talent has taken a back seat to superficial roles and she is yet to break that streak.

8. Jerry O' Connell

Twitter

During his career, Jerry O' Connell has had quite a few successful TV shows to his name, but he also has a long list of failed sitcoms than almost any TV show. Back in 1995, he played the role of Quinn Mallory on Sliders for five seasons and then he starred in Crossing Jordan for six seasons in the early 2000s, playing the role of a detective. After that, he was struck with bad luck and he is yet to break it. It all started with the 2008 sitcom 'Do Not Disturb' and since then, he has starred in 14 failed sitcoms in the last six years.

9. Marlon Brando

Twitter

He is one of the finest actors in Hollywood known for his role in movies such as A Streetcar Named Desire, On The Waterfront and The Godfather. But, Brando also suffered from the Superman curse when he agreed to associate himself with the film playing Superman’s father in 1978's Superman alongside Christopher Reeves. His personal life took a huge toll after he starred in the movie. His son was sent to prison for 10 years for murdering the boyfriend of his half-sister and five years later his daughter committed suicide. Brando himself died of respiratory failure and heart failure in 2004, four months before the death of Christopher Reeves.
