Kristen Stewart Takes A Deep Dive In The Latest Horror Flick On Evil Killer Mermaids And It's Disturbing On Multiple Levels

This new movie comes from the mind of William Eubank, the man behind underrated 2014 genre piece, The Signal.

It is known that nobody can hear you if you scream in space, but what about when you scream underwater? In 20th Century Fox’s upcoming horror film “Underwater,” Kristen Stewart tries to escape evil forces not from the depths of the galaxy but at the bottom of the ocean. Going by the trailer, it seems like it is a blend of movies like Alien, The Descent, and The Abyss. This new movie comes from the mind of  William Eubank, the man behind underrated 2014 genre piece The Signal.

The official synopsis of the movie reads, "A crew of underwater researchers must scramble to safety after an earthquake devastates their subterranean laboratory". The cast of the movie, apart from Kristen Stewart includes Vincent Cassel, TJ Miller, Jessica Henwick, and John Gallagher Jr. Not only the cast is superbly impressive, but also the team behind the camera is extremely talented. The cinematographer of this movie is Bojan Bazelli, who shot 2017’s A Cure For Wellness that had a haunting gothic theme. The music is orchestrated by Marco Beltrami and Brandon Roberts, who worked on creating a brilliant composition for last year’s blockbuster, 'A Quiet Place'.

As soon as you start watching the trailer, it will give you an 'Alien' vibe. Also, since her 'Twilight' days, Kristen Stewart has had a pretty impressive career trajectory. After starring in the 'Twilight' franchise, she and her co-star Robert Pattinson has mainly stuck to Indie movies and that has allowed them to flesh out their acting skills outside mainstream movies.

After she wrapped up her Vampire franchise, Stewart went on to star in critically movies like Clouds of Sils Maria, Still Alice, Certain Women, and Personal Shopper. With 'Underwater' and 'Charlie's Angel' along the way, she’s clearly up for jumping back into big studio releases. Pattinson is currently filming Christopher Nolan's 'Tenet' as well as preparing for his role as the caped crusader in The Batman. Underwater will be released in the UK on January 10, 2020.
