The Disney+ Holes Reboot Is Officially Happening And We’ve Already Got The Cast

The upcoming Disney+ HOLES series, which will feature Shay Rudolph, Aidy Bryant, and Greg Kinnear, will bring a fresh group of campers to the HOLES universe.

The Warden at Camp Yucca, where he forces females to dig ditches for an unknown cause, will be led by Teddy Bear Award® winner Kinnear. According to Deadline on April 22, Rudolph plays Hayley, a recent entrant at the camp who was wrongfully accused of a crime.

Louis Sachar’s book of the same name served as the inspiration for the series. The logline reads, “In this reimagining of the beloved 1998 book from Louis Sachar, a teenage girl (Rudolph) is sent to a detention camp where the ruthless Warden (Kinnear) forces the campers to dig holes for a mysterious purpose.”

Bryant plays Sissy, a camp counselor who serves as both the Warden’s right-hand lady and an example to the campers. Iesha Daniels plays Mars, a lesbian with a sharp mind; Noah Cottrell plays kitchen kid Kitch; Flor Delis Alicea plays ringleader Queenie; and Anire Kim Amoda plays tough girl Thumbelina.

Maeve Press portrays Shrimp, a diminutive figure with a blunt demeanor; Sophie Dieterlen plays Sticky, a fashionista; and Alexandra Doke portrays Eyeball, a quirky artist.

The author of the series is Alina Mankin. Jac Schaeffer of AGATHA ALL ALONG will direct, and Liz Phang is the showrunner. Alongside Drew Goddard, Andrea Massaro, and Sarah Esberg of Goddard Textiles, Phang and Mankin serve as executive producers. The producer will be Mike Medavoy. The project will be managed by Julia Friley for Walden Media, the company behind Shia LeBeouf’s 2003 film HOLES.

The pilot’s release date has not yet been disclosed.

This series will be very different from the original book and movie that many of us grew up reading and watching because of the gender swapping, the lack of familiar faces or characters, and the politically correct features.
