If you're a fan of BL dramas (shorthand for Boys’ Love), you might want to check out the Thai series Bad Buddy which has become a top trending topic since its conclusion on Friday. Many BL dramas have come from countries such as Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, China, and the Philippines, and are an incredible form of nuanced, romantic storytelling. K-pop group A.C.E’s leader Jun told Teen Vogue that he hoped BL dramas like Light on Me and others could “help break down prejudices and create a more equal world for all.”

Bad Buddy is a romantic comedy-drama TV series that first premiered on October 29, 2021. It is one of Thailand’s most popular shows and is directed by queer filmmaker Backaof “Aof” Noppharnach. The hashtag #BadBuddySeriesตอนจบ came out as the number 1 topic in Twitter Philippines with more than 2 million tweets, as per ABS CBN News. The 12-episode series features Ohm Pawat and Nanon Korapat in the lead. This is Korapat's first BL series since the critically acclaimed The Gifted and its sequel The Gifted: Graduation. As for costar Pawat, the actor has been in the BL scene with his popular series He's Coming To Me.

The story follows fun-loving Pat (Pawat “Ohm” Chittsawangdee) and perfectionist Pran (Korapat “Nanon” Kirdpan) in their first year of university in Bangkok. The pair have been rivals even before they were born as their families are enemies. But the two get sick of their rivalry after a while. Over time, their friendship blossoms into something even more beautiful. Den of Geek praises the show, writing "Bad Buddy is artfully constructed. (One climactic scene is soundtracked completely by Thai xylophone.) There are the performances of series stars Nanon and Ohm, who not only have killer chemistry but demonstrate an impressive range in their respective portrayals of two men coming of age while trying to balance their hearts, ambitions, and family pressures."

Thai actors, Ohm Pawat and Nanon Korapat are actually good friends in real life. According to Nanon, Ohm is someone who lifts his spirits when he's feeling down. “Ohm, he cares about people around him. Sometimes, I do not feel good and I talk to Ohm. And everything can be okay. When my energy drops, we will find Ohm to put up my energy,” the actor said. Ohm also returned the sweet words, saying, “Nanon is a good actor and he is a perfectionist man in work. In life, he has many sides of him. I received a lot of love. Nanon cares a lot. Nanon sees me every moment of my life after working in this series. After that, we are very good and best friends." The two are such amazing actors and their chemistry on-screen is undeniable! It's no wonder the show is such a hit amongst viewers.
