'Stranger Things' Star Maya Hawke Teases Eddie Munson Return For Next Season

Eddie Munson is the one track running on everyone’s mind. It’s been 20 days since Season 4 Volume 2 of Stranger Things dropped, in which crowd favorite Eddie Munson died bravely. However, this isn’t stopping fans and actors alike from pining for his return in the next and final season of the show, ScreenRant reports.

Maya Hawke who plays Robin on the show addresses the possibility that Eddie could come back. Fans were just introduced to the character and were on the cusp of reaching worshipping levels when he was killed off in a blaze of glory. Electric guitar in hand, riffing Master of Puppets by Metallica, and becoming the bait for the ultimate sacrifice, Eddie really came into his own by the end of the show.

It is the aforementioned amazingness of Eddie Munson that fans are longing to see again in the next season and Hawke agrees. “I totally sympathize with fans who want to see more of him. … I feel like we can’t keep killing people and bringing them back to life – the same fans would be so annoyed!” she told NME. “But I would love them to find a way to have Eddie’s ghost in the mix, just because Joe Quinn is such an awesome guy. He’s so much fun to have on set and such a great actor.”

This is not the first time the Duffer Brothers would be playing the ghost game considering we saw Billy's (Dacre Montogomery) ghost terrorizing Max Mayfield (Sadie Sink) multiple times throughout the season. The Brothers are notorious for teasing important character deaths and bringing them back later. It can be infuriating for fans, and Millie Bobby Brown feels the same. In an interview, she called them "Sensitive Sallies" for constantly bringing back important characters they’ve killed off instead of sticking to the Game of Thrones-style brutality.

Going by the response online, just the possibility of seeing Eddie back on the screen has opened up a world of ideas. The fans have already started theorizing about his return and Joseph Quinn joined in on the fun, saying that they could bring him back in a way where he can use his ghost self to communicate with Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo). Some other fans suggest that Vecna might resurrect Eddie to make him his minion although this theory seems to be getting more backlash than love. People clearly aren’t excited to see a zombie Eddie. 

Considering this could lead to a ‘Bring back Sherlock Holmes’ style protest on the internet, the Duffer brothers may be hiding something under their sleeve that would bring Eddie back even though they maintain that his death is definitely permanent (yeah, we’ll see about that).
