Squid Game was a cultural reset this year with the Korean show becoming the most-watched series on Netflix. The show followed a group of cash-strapped individuals who were recruited to play a series of children's games in return for a grand cash prize. The games turn deadly and there will only be one winner. The show received international acclaim for its sharp commentary about capitalism, and social and economic inequalities.

The creator and director of the series, Hwang Dong-Hyuk, has previously confirmed the return of the show for another season. He even shared that the details are being finalized and that there could even be a third season.

The lead actor, Lee Jung-Jae plays Seong Gi-hun a divorcee and gambling addict who (spoiler alert!) is the last one standing at the end of the deadly games. At the end of season one, he is determined to get to the root of the problem and find the people behind the games. Speaking to PEOPLE Lee has shared plot details of the coming season and there seem to be some exciting developments to look forward to in the next season. "I have no idea what will happen or the scale of it," he explained, "but the only thing [Hwang] did tell me was that Seong Gi-hun is going to be in the show again, and he's going to be playing in the arena again." Sounds exciting and intriguing already!

"I hope there's some sort of twist that'll be exciting and surprising for me and the viewers," Lee added. "If it was predictable, it would be no fun." We currently know he is one among the very few characters, that we all fell in love with, who will be returning. Looking back on the success of the series Lee confesses it was something he did not expect. "A second season has become inevitable in a way," he told the magazine. "I remember when we were shooting, I asked  [Hwang] if there'd be a second season, and he said, 'I don't think so. That's going to be very difficult.' But we can do one now because we've received so much love all across the world."

He recalled a time on the sets for the very first game when the 456 people were playing the deadly Red Light, Green Light game." I suddenly got the feeling that it was going to be very big," he said. "So I went and told [Hwang] and the crew, 'I think this is going to be really popular. You should make a theme park right now, you should make sure that that robot's there, and people could play the six games that are in this show.'" With the success of the show and what is still to come, there is potential for a Squid Game theme park in the future.
