More than a decade has passed since Spice and Wolf season 2 aired. Are Holo and Lawrence still coming back?
More than a decade has passed since fans last saw Lawrence and Holo in the anime series Spice and Wolf.
The season finale was aired on September 24, 2009, and fans have since been endlessly waiting for a follow-up season to come.
The anime is based on a Japanese light novel series of the same name by Isuna Hasekura.
In 2016, the author announced that he is working on another volume of the novel series, which gave fans hope that Spice and Wolf season 3 is coming too.
It's been four years since the announcement, but we still haven't seen any significant development on the anime series. Let's find out what's currently in store for Spice and Wolf.
Unfortunately, despite public demand and countless petitions, the show creator himself has previously said he's not interested in creating season 3.
Hasekura's statement was a huge heartbreaker for fans. Nevertheless, they remain hopeful.
Spice and Wolf Season 3. It's been over a decade now, it'll never happen, but I'll forever hold out hope— MortalHusk (@MortalHusk) July 16, 2020
They continue to talk about the show and are still relentlessly asking for Spice and Wolf season 3.
We hate to burst fan's bubbles, but there's a high chance that these dreams will never come to reality.
The manga/novel based anime world operates in a very different system. The anime series are often created as a sort of marketing tool to drive more sales for the book/ manga. The more popular the anime series is, the more book/mangas can be sold.
Hasekura has continued to create more novel series for Spice and Wolf. The latest one released just in 2019 without any anime television series in place.
Since 2016, ASCII Media Works has published three volumes of a spin-off light novel series titled Wolf and Parchment.
It looks like they don't need another anime series to back up the sales of their novel series anymore.
Fans have been doing their best to secure a season 3, and it's not their fault that they won't get it.
For now, the only way to get into Spice and Wolf's world again is through the novel series.
Spice and Wolf follows the adventure of Kraft Lawrence, a merchant who needs to earn money to start his shop. One night, Lawrence found a wolf-deity named Holo in his wagon. Holo is 600-years-old but looks like a 15-year-old girl with wolf tail and ear.
Holo asks Lawrence to take her to her home. Along the way, Holo's wisdom helps Lawrence gain profit in trades.
The show contains a lot of trading jargon and information regarding negotiation and bargaining presented creatively without boring the audience.
The show's plot was blended so beautifully that it managed to make a fantasy world seem realistic, never too complex, nor too clumsy.
