Sonic The Hedgehog Completely Crushes Birds Of Prey At The Box Office

Last week I reported that the toxic fandom of Birds Of Prey was leading a campaign to sabotage Sonic The Hedgehog. Well, I am pleased to announce that they failed miserably as Sonic crushed Birds Of Prey at the Box Office.

Sonic The Hedgehog beat all expectations, grossing a stellar $57 million in its Friday-Sunday opening weekend. It is also expected to cross $70 million in its 4-day opening weekend. These numbers could make Sonic The Hedgehog the best video game adaptation of all time.

These numbers by Sonic were far better than the $33.2 million made by Birds Of Prey in its opening weekend. And it didn't get any better for the Margot Robbie film as it plummeted to $15.3 million in its second week in a drop of 50.4%! Yikes!

It started off pretty poorly for Sonic The Hedgehog as Thursday previews saw a weak $3 million haul in comparison to the $4 million by Birds Of Prey. However, Friday screenings saw the Sonic fandom come out in their numbers as the film grossed a crazy $18 million. Birds Of Prey, however, grossed only $8.9 million during its Friday screenings.

Sonic The Hedgehog is now the number one movie in the world and everyone absolutely loves it! The Rotten Tomatoes Audience Score stands at 94%. Sonic completely blew Birds Of Prey out of the water. The toxic fandom has lost once again. 

Sonic The Hedgehog easily defeated Birds Of Prey but the real competition is between the gaming adaptations Sonic and Detective Pikachu. Detective Pikachu had an opening weekend of $54 million while Sonic opened with $57 million. So far Sonic is in the lead but with Detective Pikachu's overall haul of $433 million worldwide, Sonic still has some ways to go.
