Ryan Reynolds' upcoming time travel movie has officially found a new home on Netflix.

The film, initially titled 'Our Name Is Adam' has been in development for almost a decade now.

In 2012, Mission Impossible star Tom Cruise was attached to play the lead role with Paramount set to produce the film.

However, things didn't push through, and now Netflix has finally picked up the project with Reynolds as the lead cast.

'Irreplaceable You' and 'Banshee' screenwriter Jonathan Tropper will rewrite the script from previous writers TS Nowlin, Mark Levin, and Jennifer Flackett.

The script has undergone a lot of revisions since it was connected with Paramount eight years ago.

Although much of the plot remains unknown, THW reported that Reynolds would play as a man who must travel back in time to seek help from his younger self.

The two will meet their father, who will be the same age as Reynolds as the film goes on.

The film will be produced by David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger for Skydance. George Dewey will also be producing the flick through Reynolds' Maximum Effort banner.

The production is scheduled to begin in November in Vancouver.

Ryan Reynolds and Shawn Levy will be reteaming for this new flick. The two previously worked together in 'Free Guy,' an amalgamation of popular video games like Grand Theft Auto and Fortnite. Free Guy's release date has been pushed to December 11, 2020, following the pandemic.

Both Reynolds and Levy are no strangers in working with Netflix. In 2019, Reynolds' starred in Michael Bay's action thriller 6 Underground. Skydance Media also produced the film.

Skydance was in postproduction for The Old Guard, starring Charlize Theron. The Old Guard broke Netflix records on its first seven days since release, so we're expecting they'd be able to give Reynold's time travel movie the same amount of success.

Reynold's latest project in the streaming platform is Dwayne Johnson’s upcoming big-budget flick 'Red Notice', where the two star alongside Wonder Woman Gal Gadot.

On the other hand, Levy is one of the brilliant minds behind Netflix's global phenomenon, Stranger Things. He also previously worked with Tropper in his 2014 ensemble dramedy 'This Is Where I Leave You.'

With the group's impressive team record, we are confident that the time travel movie will be doing great on Netflix.

The film remains in pre-production, and no official release date has been announced yet. It also remains uncertain if the original title of the film will be adapted or changed for Netflix. The film is currently listed as Untitled Netflix/Time Travel Project on IMDB.
