Robert Downey Jr. Confirms He's Done With Marvel

Fans may have to give up hopes of seeing the actor in his Iron Man suit again.

Iron-Man-Tony-Stark

If you're not over with Iron Man's dramatic death in Avengers: Endgame yet, then this news will add more pain to your already aching heart.

Robert Downey Jr. has recently confirmed he's done with Marvel Movies.

The actor verified the sad news on the SmartLess podcast hosted by Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett.

When asked how he manages to balance family life following Iron Man's dramatic death in Avengers: Endgame, Downey Jr. answered with no hesitation: 'That's all done.'

So if you're one of those broken-hearted fans that remains hopeful that he's returning full time as Tony Stark, then perhaps it's time to slowly let go of that hope.

However, if we still choose to focus on the bright side, Downey Jr. didn't say he's saying no to cameos either.

Rumors have been circulating claiming that Iron Man/Tony Stark would be making a cameo appearance in Marvel's Black Widow, while others claimed it would be part of Captain America: Civil War deleted scene.

That rumored scene sees Tony Stark meet with Natasha Romanoff and tells her to go on the run. It has been screened before but wasn't released as bonus material.

Black Widow- Iron Man

The scene could act as a bridge between the events in Black Widow, which takes place in the period between the Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, Comicbook reports.

But then again, these are all still rumors and remain so unless we get an official word from Marvel.

In November 2019, there were also reports of Downey Jr.'s return as Iron Man in animation form for Disney's streaming service.

Jeff Goldblum revealed the news in a Buzzfeed interview where he discussed the upcoming Disney+ series What If…?

"I played the part again a couple of days ago. I went to the Disney studios, and I recorded the Grandmaster's voice for an episode of a show that's gonna be on Disney+ that's called What If...?" Goldblum said in the video.

"It's an animated version of all the characters we know and love from Marvel, and this episode included the Grandmaster and Iron Man, so Robert Downey will do a voice for that, and Korg," he added.

Well, at least we're sure to hear Downey Jr. on screen again as Iron Man.

What If…? is set to release on Disney+ in summer 2021. Meanwhile, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is set to return with Black Widow on November 6.

For now, those who miss seeing him as Iron Man can try to find a way to rewatch his appearance in Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, The Avengers, Iron Man 3, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame.
