The amazing world-building of Pacific Rim: The Black made it a hit among viewers. The series shares its universe with that of the Guillermo Del Toro film from 2013. The first two seasons got positive reviews and ratings and people are already longing for season 3. The universe still has enough space to fit more stories so will the franchise return once again? Let’s find out…
Will There Be a Season 3 of Pacific Rim: The Black?
We have received the sad news that there will not be another season. However, there is a silver lining to this situation. We believe that the universe in which the show is set can still be explored. Perhaps, the creators could shift their focus to a different story strand that eventually connects to a larger narrative. Netflix has the opportunity to continue to develop this universe since there are no other streaming services or publications working on it. If Netflix decides to do so, it could eventually own this universe.
What is The Plot of Pacific Rim: The Black?
The series is set in the same universe as the 2013 film and depicts an alternate version of events that took place. In this universe, a race of monsters called Kaiju emerges from the Pacific Rim and begins attacking the continent of Australia. To defend themselves, humans build gigantic robot arms and Jaegers. The story revolves around siblings Taylor and Hayley Travis, who are left behind by their parents as they go to fight the monsters. After five years, Hayley finds a long-abandoned training Jaeger called Atlas Destroyer, which she and her brother activate to embark on a journey to find their parents. However, their plan takes a dark turn when Kaiju gets an activation alarm. To save themselves, the siblings leave Sydney Base to meet Boy and Mei, and their mission shifts from finding their parents to fighting for the world. In Season 2, a boy with the ability to turn into a Kaiju is introduced. He has a permanent scar that reveals his true identity as a fighter.
