Obi-Wan Season 2 Gets A Promising Update

Obi-Wan Kenobi director Deborah Chow recently gave a promising update on the prospects of a season. During an interview with THR, Chow said that a season 2 isn't "off the board" and even star Ewan McGregor has been "pitching [her] ideas for" the next season. She said:

"You always think you’re going to end a series like this in some magnificent way, but instead you end up in a parking lot with second unit and hardly anybody there. It’s always so anticlimactic, but as Ewan and I finished our very last shot on second unit and I was literally taking off my headphones, he was already pitching me ideas for season two. There’s another 10 years with plenty of stories, and I don’t think it’s off the board. It is a 'never say never' situation, but we really did conceive this to be a limited series."

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy also had something to say about the second season. She said that the show isn't in active development but there is still a possibility. She said:

“That is not in active development. But I never say never, because there’s always the possibility. That show was so well-received and [director] Deborah Chow did such a spectacular job. Ewan McGregor really wants to do another.”

When Is The Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2 Releasing?

Since Obi-Wan Kenobi started out as a mini-series, there is no certainty that it will get renewed for a second season. So, there is no announcement regarding a second season now but in case it ever happens we can expect Disney and Lucasfilm to respond to the fan’s demands and give us a surprise by renewing this show next year. But until then, all we can do is hope for the best outcome.

What Is The Plot Of Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2?

As we have seen in the first season, the story of Obi-Wan picks up ten years after the conclusion of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. The Jedi was taken down by Sith Lord Darth Vader and Order 66. Now, Kenobi resides on the planet of Tatooine, keeping an eye on his apprentice, Anakin Skywalker’s son, Luke. But the Galactic Empire kidnaps Anakin’s daughter Leia in order to bring out Kenobi from his hiding spot and thus leading to a confrontation between Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi. However, as we hopefully look forward to a potential season 2, it’s hard to tell what could build up the story since the first season did not leave us with any cliffhangers. We can expect to see Obi-Wan getting guided by Qui-Gon as he heads out for more adventure and teams up with Reva if a season 2 ever happens.
