Packed with a generous dose of magic and mystery, will the third instalment of this film see the daylight anytime soon?
When the first Now You See Me film was released back in 2013, it gave us a quick-paced magical mystery with some money heist narrative tucked in between the plot points and the audience had a mixed reaction to it. It kind of reminded us of a lukewarm version of Christopher Nolan’s The Prestige but at the same time, the audience was enthralled to see most of the ensemble cast of Now You See Me show up for a second film. Now the real question is, will the bigshot illusionists known as the Four Horsemen return to the big screens for the third time or not? Read ahead to know everything about Now You See Me 3.
Lionsgate Studio announced the development of the third film in this series in May 2015. However, there isn’t enough information regarding the actual release date of the third movie since it’s currently in the middle of pre-production. There is no announcement about a date of release from Secret Hideout Productions and Lionsgate Films yet.
The only substantial announcement we have on Now You See Me 3 is Lionsgate Motion Picture Group president Nathan Kahane's statement in September 2022 (via Variety), "For everyone we've kept in suspense, the wait is almost over."
Now You See Me film series tells the story of an arrogant but brilliant illusionist named J. Daniel Atlas who forms a group of prodigal magicians and calls themselves the Four Horseman. Their most spectacular feat is draining the bank balance of corrupt people and transferring the money to the bank account of the audience in live shows. With an FBI agent, an Interpol detective, and a magic debunker hot on their trails, how will the Four Horseman perform their greatest trick yet and get away with it?
Ever since the announcement of the third film, it was expected that most of the original cast members would return, but as usual, the cast lineup is constantly subjected to changes in any upcoming film projects. If the original cast makes a return, we will get to see Jesse Eisenberg as illusionist J. Daniel Atlas, Mark Ruffalo as the former FBI agent, Dylan Rhodes, Woody Harrelson, and Dave Franco will reprise their roles as Merritt McKinney and Jack Wilder respectively. Daniel Radcliffe might also come back as Walter Mabry, and Lizzy Caplan as Lula May. It was also announced that Benedict Cumberbatch would appear as a supporting character in the third film. Now You See Me 3 will be made in unison with Secret Hideout Productions and Lionsgate Films. Jon M. Chu will return as the director, and the film will be produced by Bobby Cohen, Alex Kurtzman, and Jeb Brody.
There is no information on the internet regarding the plot of Now You See Me 3 but the audience can make a few guesses about what lies ahead in this series. After the first two films, it can be confirmed that the greatest controlling force in this series is, The Eye. Since the last two films left plenty of cliffhangers and unanswered questions, the audience is looking forward to finding their answers and knowing more about the secret society of magic. Needless to say, anything that follows up in the plot is certain to surprise the audience.
