There has not been much news about the renewal of the anime for another season despite there being plenty of source material to work from.
Monster Musume, aka Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls, is a harem fantasy anime licensed by Sentai Filmworks. It is based on the manga series written and illustrated by Okayado.
It follows the story of a hapless human teenager named Kurusu Kimihito whose life is turned upside down after he is inducted as a "volunteer" into the government exchange program. As part of the new job, a snake-like lamia named Miia comes to live with him, and it is Kurusu's job to take care of her and make sure she integrates into his everyday life. Unfortunately for Kurusu, Miia is undeniably sexy, and the law against interspecies breeding is very strict. It is even more challenging for a full-blooded teenage human with raging hormones when a ravishing centaur girl and a flirtatious harpy move in as well.
The manga series was originally adapted to an anime series in 2015. It was directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara, scripted by Kazuyuki Fudeyasu, and was animated by the animation studio Lerche. The series had 12 episodes and an additional two Original video animation (OVA) episodes. The manga series has 17 volumes and continues to be in serialization. But there has not been much news about the renewal of the anime for another season despite there being plenty of source material to work from.
However, there seems to have been an Easter egg in the final episode indicating a second season. According to Crunchyroll, Japanese fans have shared that the clue is hidden by the animators, as "niki kettei" which is the romanized transliteration for the Japanese phrase "phase 2 decision," which fans are taking to mean "2nd season confirmed." But this was back in 2015 and there has not been any news since.
The anime has covered only about 25 chapters from the manga. There is a possibility of the battle between liminals to be able to marry Kimihito that can take place. There can also be more monster girls from different places expected to show up to compete for the Kurusu's affections. In later chapters of the manga, Kurusu works at a farm where more bodily functions such as milking and spore-releasing come up. The plot progresses with the human-monster diplomatic relation arc in the background.
Kurusu Kimihito voiced by Junji Majima will obviously be a part of the new season along with several monster girls including Sora Amamiya as Miia, Ari Ozawa as Papi, Natsuki Aikawa as Centorea, and Yu Kobayashi as Ms. Smith.
There has not been a confirmed renewal of the show yet. If it is confirmed anytime soon we can only expect to see the anime later this year or in 2023.
