The show became the most-watched non-English title on Netflix at the time of its release on 15 July 2020, amassing 35 million viewers in 28 days. It was created by Leticia López Margalli. The series was well-received by viewers and was renewed for a second season a month after the premiere of the first season. The second season was released on 2 February 2022. Here's what you need to know about the future of the show:

Will There Be Season 3 Of Dark Desire?

When Netflix renewed the show for a second season, it was announced that it would also be the final season. It has more to do with how the story came to an end than the show not being popular with the viewers. The show initially starts with Alma Solares, a prestigious lawyer and college professor who visits her best friend for the weekend to process the grief of the latter’s divorce. During the pair's getaway, Alma meets Dario Guerra, a 23-year-old, and they have a wild tryst. She then comes back home to her husband and daughter. She is determined to forget her momentary lapse in judgment, but instead, her bad decisions follow her to make her life a living hell.

What started as a minor adventure becomes a tale of passion, and then a dangerous obsession. It soon unravels a chain of secrets of a past that fatally binds them all. The first season ended in a cliffhanger that was addressed in the second season. (Warning! Spoilers ahead.) In the second season, as Alma tries to rebuild her life, a reunion with Dario rekindles their doomed affair and brings his more sinister side to the surface. At the end of the second season, Alma manages to get Dario to admit that he killed his wife, Julieta. She makes an elaborate plan for this confession with the help of Esteban. They inject sodium pentothal, and Dario ends up revealing his deepest, darkest secret. He is then handcuffed to a hospital bed as Alma walks away smoking a cigarette. In the end, Alma gets closure and is finally able to escape from the man who had caused her so much trouble and pain. With a perfect ending like this, there will not be a need for another season.

There were still a few loose ends but this is probably not enough to have another season to clarify everything.
