Mean Girls, the popular movies from the early 2000s films is a part of the core memory for every 90's kids and when the story gets adapted into a musical movie there's nothing like it! Did you know that the original movie was base on a non-fiction self help book written by Rosalind Wiseman in 2002 called Queen Bees and Wannabees. The book talked about the social stereotypes in high school that can be damaging for the student's personality development. The films is known for using humor to tackle some serious social issues affecting high school kids. The film's cast featured Lindsay Lohan and Rachel Mcadams who are were extremely known in Hollywood at that time. The film did great at the box office and also gained a cult following with every teenage girl of that time quoting famous dialogues like "On Wednesdays we wear pink."
The film was then adapted into Mean Girls the Musical that opened on Broadway in 2018. The show was a hit and earned 10 Tony nominations but was forced to shutdown during the Pandemic. Now for the good news, Paramount Pictures is planning to make a musical movie adfatation of the original film Mean Girls and here's everything we know about it...
The premise will remain the same as the film is known for the story more than anything.It will follow Cady Heron who come to an American high school for the very first time in her life and had been home school until then. She was raised in Africa by her scientist parents and is immediately hit by the other world and not in a great way. She finds her path laid with challenges but soon overcomes them.
Reportedly, Angourie Rice will be playing Cady Heron. Rice is known to play Betty in all three Marvel Studios Spiderman Films alongside Tom Holland and Zendaya. She has also appeared in projects like Mare of Easttown and Black Mirror. Reneé Rapp who played Regina George in the Broadway will be reprising her role. Auli'i Cravalho is set to play Janis Ian and she will also be seen in the Prime Video series The Power and there's news that Jenna Fischer will also be joining the cast. We will also be seeing some newcomers like Avantika Vandanapu.
