'Runaways' has been and will always remain an integral part of the MCU.
Marvel’s Runaways is a superhero TV show based on the Marvel Comics of the same name. The show is a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well and shares continuity with the films and other television series of the franchise. The series follows the story of a group of teenagers from different backgrounds who discover the real identity of their parents, who run a criminal organization called Pride. These teens run away from their homes and try to learn the secrets of their origins. In the process, they also try to mess with their parents' sinister plans.
The Hulu TV show has three seasons. Here's what's in store for the future of the series:
Renewal Status: Pending
The first season premiered in 2017 and set the premise based on the comic book story. The second season was released in 2018 and shows how the kids are on the run and try not to get caught by their parents as they continue to devise a way to stop Pride. In the third season that came out in 2019, we see the Runaways try to rescue their friends who are captured as well as take on aliens and a formidable enemy like never before, Morgan le Fay, the ruler of the dark realm.
At the time of the release of the third season, it was also announced that it would be the last season of the show. The show, which was created by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, did not leave the fans hanging when the show was concluded. It was brought to an end that could be considered a satisfactory one. Moreover, several other Marvel shows were canceled as well, including Cloak & Dagger, Agents of SHIELD, Daredevil, and Jessica Jones. Much of it had to do with the restructuring of Marvel Entertainment that came under Marvel Studios.
But Runaways has been and will always remain an integral part of the MCU. “It all lives in the same world,” Marvel head of television Jeph Loeb said. “How and where it’s connected and what it’s going to be connected to remains to be seen. … It lives in a world of if you’re a teenager … since it’s all connected through social media and its own way, would you be following Iron Man or somebody that was more your age? The fact that they’ve found each other and are going through this mystery together is what they’re concerned about, not what Captain America is doing on a Friday night.”
The show starred Rhenzy Feliz as Alex Wilder, Lyrica Okano Nico Minoru, Virginia Gardner as Karolina Dean, Ariela Barer as Gertrude Yorkes, Gregg Sulkin as Chase Stein, Allegra Acosta as Molly Hernandez, Annie Wersching as Leslie Ellerh Dean, Ryan Sands as Geoffrey Wilder, Angel Parker as Catherine Wilder, Ever Carradine as Janet Stein, James Marsters as Victor Stein, Kevin Weisman as Dale Yorkes, Brigid Brannagh as Stacey Yorkes, James Yaegashi as Robert Minoru, Brittany Ishibashi as Tina Minoru, and Elizabeth Hurley as Morgan le Fay in the final season.
