Marvel Discussed Chris Evans Cameo In 'The Falcon and the Winter Soldier'

'The Falcon and the Winter Soldier' showrunner Malcolm Spellman confirmed that Marvel talked about having Chris Evans cameo in the Disney+ series.

Chris Evans' anticipated cameo in 'The Falcon and the Winter Soldier' didn't happen.

'The Falcon and the Winter Soldier' has already wrapped up, and though fans loved the series, most of us would agree that it would've been even better if Chris Evans made a cameo appearance as Captain America Steve Rogers.

But while we didn't see that happen, we now learned that Marvel discussed having Chris Evans cameo in the Disney+ series at some point. This was confirmed by the series showrunner Malcolm Spellman.

"It was discussed, I think. I don't know. I am officially saying I don't know," Spellman told Kevin Poloway of Yahoo Entertainment.

Poloway tried to clarify Spellman's answer saying, "You're officially saying it may have been discussed, but you don't know what exactly was discussed," Spellman agreed, saying, "That's exactly right."

The reason why the cameo didn't happen remains unknown. It could be because it's too early to bring Evans back after his dramatic goodbye, or that he deserves a bigger and more spectacular welcome once he returns to the MCU, not just a cameo. Of course, it could also be simply because Marvel doesn't want to bring his character back anymore (we are hoping this is not the real answer).

Evans starred as the first Sentinel of Liberty in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2011's 'Captain America: The First Avenger'. He retired in 2019 following the epic battle against Thanos in 'Avengers: Endgame', passing on the Captain America shield to Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie). Sam is the first black Captain America in history. After picking up the shield, he shaped his own legacy as the new soldier.

We followed Sam's journey as the next Captain America in the Disney+ TV show 'The Falcon and the Winter Soldier', where he teamed up with Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan).

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

'The Falcon and the Winter' Soldier depicted the importance of the U.S. government's Super Soldier program and unraveled the true legacy of the iconic shield.

The final episode of the series aired on April 23, and that same day, we received the great news that Captain America 4 is in development. Spellman is attached to write the project.

There have been numerous reports in the past about Chris Evan's return to the MCU. Now that 'The Falcon and the Winter Soldier' ended without that happening, does that mean that he will appear in 'Captain America' 4? Well, neither Marvel nor Spellman has confirmed anything yet. Evans has starred in the three 'Captain America' films in the past. It's hard to imagine a fourth film without him.
